Beautiful valley, mountains, rivers, springs and wonderful views. It is difficult to find words to describe the beauty of these places.

This is an amazingly beautiful road to drive through, to the end. You will feel like it's not going to end, but it eventually does. Very very narrow, one-lane road, with very frequent "Passing Place" pullouts on both sides of the road. You can't drive very fast, but then why would you want to! Stunning scenery and well worth the drive. At the time, we knew this was "Skyfall" road from the James Bond movie, but we didn't know the exact spot from the movie. After we got home, we watched Skyfall again and recognized the exact location where M and James Bond stand. Coincidentally, we had gotten a photo from that same spot along the way, which worked out perfectly in the end. Definitely do this drive, but allow a ton of time, because it's over an hour (depending on traffic) just to get to the end and then another hour or more to return.
I wouldn't go there, though, if it's raining and overcast/cloudy, because you wouldn't get to see and enjoy the beauty.

Not sure what all the fuss is about. Far better views on many other roads without numpty drivers failing to understand how to use a passing point.

Worth the drive all the way to the start of the Loch, a pretty good track all the way and lots of passing places. I took a picnic and enjoyed the views - wish I had taken my swimming costume to be honest (but obviously be careful if you’re not used to cold water swimming). Combine with a coffee at the Kingshouse Hotel (walkers bar) or the chairlift at GlenCoe ski resort and you’ve got a great full day in the Glen Coe area.

Such a lovely drive, stunning scenery. We were very lucky to see some of the wild deer and also a stag. The loch at the end is beautiful. Take it steady on the road as it is single track with passing places but some cars do park in the passing places to take photos. Finding the Skyfall spot was tricky but we managed it.

I understand perfectly why scotland is the most beautiful country in the world. Glen Etiv is so majestic. I couldn't get my eyes off the scenery, I needed to stop the car(even I did not plan to) and looked at the dramatic views. I would go back there anytime.

I took out 6 metre motorhome along this drive into the Glen and managed perfectly well but DO NOT TRY IT WITH A CARAVAN ATTACHED !
It is not a circular route and comes to a stop at a very small car park which if it’s busy will be very difficult to turn round in. Fortunately it was ok for me
It’s a single track road but has loads of passing place. Very enjoyable drive with places to stop and enjoy the views and have a brew

Not have any idea, we selected to drive here before going to dinner. Thankfully, we had snacks and drinks in the car because it was a long drive. It probably took 45 to 65 minutes to get to the end. That said, it was absolutely gorgeous, and I wanted to pull over several times to take photos. However, there is not any parking areas. Just passing areas. So I did not want to be that annoying tourist that disturbed the driving of others. So my passenger took photos outside my window. Very beautiful. Tons of signs that say, do not feed the deer. Very small parking lot at the very end to turn around it.

Is there enough room for turning in a 6m motor home?

Hello! My companion and I are hoping to do the Glen Etive Drive but don't feel comfortable driving ourselves. We were just wondering if there is someone we can hire or a service that is provided by any chance? Thanks!!
Skrevet 2. april 2019
Sorry I don’t live in that area it’s not an actual tourist attraction it’s a place where the deer roam free depends if you’re staying close by a taxi would most probably take you but then that would cost money as you need to find them. The other alternative is a farm in aviemore where reindeer roam free on the hills they have a tour bus and they will take you to feed them exactly the same as the stags. It’s the reindeer farm they have a website sorry only just saw your message. The deer and stags only come down the mountain a certain time of year it’s much warmer now so you may struggle to see any now the reindeer park is on my next list. I live 2 hrs away from there so sorry I couldn’t help more hope this message caught you before you came to 🏴 Scotland try reindeer farm aviemore they charge for the tours.

Hi, Hatshepsutt. What would you like to know about this attraction? What road are you referring to ?

I'm gonna go to highland this spring and I would like to ask something.
I’m planning to go to Glencoe by walking.
Which way is more beautiful for walking along A82 road or from Glen Etive to Glencoe through Three Sisters?
Skrevet 16. februar 2018
Can anyone give me an estimate of the amount of time needed to drive the Glen Etive road? It says it's about 14 miles, but I know the pace will be slow with some stops. Is one hour enough time to drive to and from the main highway? Thank you!!
Skrevet 19. mai 2017
A hour is enough. But better to take your time and take in the scenery and majesty of the Glen.

I've seen the photos where folks recreate the Bond/M scene from Skyfall (google glen etive skyfall). If I was looking to do the same, what time of year do you suppose it was? Is this late fall? When do the mountain tops start getting dusted with snow?

Hi Jeff , This area can have snow topped mountains all year round , it just depends on rainfall , whether it is washed away or not . Last summer , I have pictures from July this year which have a look of icing sugar dusting . My picture of Stob Dearg and the River Coe was taken on the 3rd of November 2016 . I have never seen Stob Dearg (the pyramid of The Bauchaille Etive Mor series of peaks ) without snow this late in the year . Weather is very unpredictable here , but from now until May you are guaranteed snowy tops . I'm there 40-50 times every year , and the place is mesmerising every time I go .
It's a once in a lifetime experience . Kenny

Hey, looking to camp this weekend and do some walking, ideally would have been Glencoe but heard you're not allowed to camp there, thought glen etive as alternative . Are you allowed to camp there and if anyone can help , where to camp and also best walking routes ? Any help appreciated thanks
Skrevet 26. juli 2016
I have seen campers in Glen Etive. In various spots alongside the river as you go down, and also right next to the Loch at the bottom. Plenty of walking around there but I am not sure of specific routes.

Hi, I'm just wondering which house you saw which you said was the Fleming home? I was under the impression that it was at Gelnelg, not Glen Etive.
Thanks,
Anna
Skrevet 14. mars 2016
Hi Anna, there is sometimes a bit of confusion between fact and fiction and this is not surprising with Fleming and Bond!
Ian Fleming's father, Valentine Fleming, owned Arnisdale House near Glenelg (and is listed on the war memorial there overlooking Loch Hourn). The Fleming family apparently owned Dalness Lodge in Glen Etive at some stage and presumably this is the property referred to on TA. Some filming took place in the vicinity of the Lodge and elsewhere at Glen Etive however "Skyfall", Bond's ancestral home in the film of the same name, was a film set built at Hankley Common at Elstead in Surrey.
Ian Fleming lived in London but wrote some of the early Bond books at his holiday home "Goldeneye" at Oracabessa Bay in Jamaica (now a resort).
Skyfall, the house, therefore cannot be seen at Glen Etive however you can see Dalness Lodge (rented for private parties and events nowadays).
