Considered as one of the most sacred temple in this part of Uttarakhand, the temple of Goddess Naina Devi or Shakti Peeth is situated at the northern edge of the Naini lake. It is believed that angered by the death of his wife Lord Mahadev took her body and started dancing vigorously (Tandav Dance) which created havoc around the whole world and then Lord Vishnu cut the body into various pieces and one of these pieces out of the 51 pieces fell at this sacred place. There are about 51 such places where the temples have been built and these are known as Shakti Peeths. It is just Half a km away from the Mall. Nainital also derived its name from the temple aand so is the case with the name of lake. The passage to the temple is very crowded because hundreds of hawkers have put up their shops selling a variety of fancy items. Besides many eatery shops also flourish here and presence of the temple attracts the tourists. Another plus point of temple is that it offers fantastic view of the Lake. The temple is maintained well and many other temples of Hindu gods are also situated here.

As a tourist, visiting Naina Devi Temple and Naini Lake was a highlight of my trip to Nainital. The temple, located on the northern end of the lake, is a beautiful example of traditional Indian architecture and has a fascinating legend associated with it.
According to the legend, the temple was built at the spot where the eyes of Goddess Sati fell when her body was cut into pieces and scattered across the Indian subcontinent. As a Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Naina Devi, it is considered to be one of the 64 Shaktipeeths and attracts a large number of devotees every year.
The lake, on the other hand, is a natural freshwater lake surrounded by lush green hills on all sides. It is crescent-shaped and is believed to be one of the four holy lakes in Hindu mythology. During my visit, I took a boat ride on the lake, which was a peaceful and relaxing experience. I also enjoyed the scenic beauty of the lake and the surrounding hills, which made for some great photo opportunities.
Together, the Naina Devi Temple and Naini Lake form a stunning location that is a must-visit for anyone traveling to Nainital. The combination of the spiritual aura of the temple and the serene beauty of the lake creates an unforgettable experience that I would highly recommend to other tourists.

A well-known Shakti Peeths of Hindu religion, Naini Devi Temple is a sacred place. The temple is located atop the Naina hillock near the Naini Lake. Goddess Naini Devi is the diety of Naini Devi Temple and located at the shore of Nainital Lake. There are many shops in close proximity to the Naina Devi Temple from where one can buy the prasad and pooja items. We visited the temple in evening and witnessed the sandhay puja and aarti, which was blissful. Several devotes were present in the temple to take blessing of Maa Naina Devi. The environment was peaceful. The view of Naini lake and surrounding in the late evening / night under illumination was beautiful.

Beautiful temple by the lake side. Apart from the cold wet floor that I had to walk on, the overall experience was great. I enjoyed the peace and tranquility. The vendors from the market area could be heard inside but that added to the charm of the place.

I have recently visited this temple and found it to be very good and one of the ancient temple at the bank of the lake ...very good place to visit and not very crowded though
Many shops in and around where you can buy things for yourself and loved one while going back
One of the things I have observed that all the priests ate not sitting inside the temple to do aarti tikka prashad , but they are sitting outside in the courtyard area and doing this activity to engage money and if you don't pay them , they give you so weird looks
Management need to really think over it and take a decision
Rest very good place one must visit when in nainitaal

Skrevet 28. desember 2017
Book a hotel near to the Nainital lake and temple as the main road is closed for vehicles in the evening. share taxis are available near the lake to take you to locations like Tiffin top, botanical garden and Cave garden. For visiting Nainadevi temple and zoo pickup point you can walk down.

i will be reaching nainital at 10.00 am on 27 sept and will leave on 29 Sept at 3.00 pm from kathgodam suggest itinerary during the period for nainital. is it possible to include mukteshwar?
Skrevet 4. september 2017
1st thing is to visit Bhim taal and naukchi taal , do paragliding and other water sports, After that you can get a hotel in nanital city mall road(better to book with parking if you have car or take mcd parking). Visit nada devi temple in evening and spend some night time near lake.
Next day you can go to mukteshwar or ranikhet and spend some great time there going to mukteshwar dham some great activities nearby. Also if you wanna spend some peacfull time i would suggest club taurus of Mukteshawar . It would be great in this weather. Mukteswar would me much better and less crowded then nanitaal.
