Some of the art is excellent and worth seeing. Some less so. However the condition of some pieces is quite poor and some like the ginger cat have almost faded out of sight.
The best way to see these is in an early morning trishaw ride. Go later in the day and you'll be dealing with heat and crowds of people who are sadly often unable to form an orderly queue.

One of the most visited places when visiting Penang. Really enjoy the iconic murals and historical buildings while looking for the street.

Taking photo with the murals was unforgettable memories. There, a lot of food stalls and souvenir shop. Don't forget to wear a hat or bring an umbrella because it too sunny.

This Penang Ice Ball at Armenian street gives a new taste to me because I never ate this food. The colors of the ice balls piqued my interest in eating the ice balls. Also, the stall really had strategic places because at the umbrella's hung. This is can interest tourist to stop by their stall

Globally, there’s a very thin line between street art (or more commonly known as graffiti) and vandalism. In countries such as the United States and Budapest it tends to lean towards vandalism. However, somewhat similar to the likes of the Berlin Wall, Penang has seemed to manage to strike a balance.

We visited most of the street arts around Armenian Street by trishaw. We enjoyed it and it is a must before it is gone.

The environment is seems changed and the wall arts are still same as it seems. It seems that we feel nothing about this place anymore. Although it is free of charge, LOL.

While in Europe so many buildings are covered with nonsensical, usually ugly graffiti it is a surprise to see all that often high quality street art in George Town. The town seems proud of it and at the Tourist Information Centre on Beach Street a very useful map is handed out by the name 'Marking George Town'.
At the center are 52 steel-rod caricatures, entertaining and informative at the same time. They are distributed all over the core zone and the buffer zone of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. As it says on the map they were done by the artists Tang Mun Kian, Baba Chuah, Reggie Lee and Lefty.
Also the location of other street art, mainly paintings, is given on the map. Most famous is the work by Lithuanian born Ernest Zacharevic, now a resident of Penang. Much photographed are his 'Children on Bicycle' and 'Boy on Motorbike'. Other known paintings are 'Indian Boatsman' by Russian artist Julia Volchkova or the 'Monkey God' in the China House by Thomas Powell from the UK.

Loved wandering around this amazing place with colourful artwork adorning the buildings! Plenty of little side streets in which to loose yourself and little ships to purchase local crafts

How much time would i need hiring a tri shaw to see the street art.? Can i pick one up from the cruise port?

Depends on whether you intend to have any stops. Trishaws are available at the cruise port. Price by the hour for extended sightseeing can be negotiated. Advisable to negotiate the fare first before getting on the trishaw.

Trying staying at Cheong Fatt Tze in Georgetown, its right near the night markets, the Clan Jetties, and the street vendors. Also look up Mark at Simply Enak ( find it via google ) and book a 4 hour food tour, he is amazing. Have fun.
