It is full of history and nostalgia, but not a lot there so will only take a couple of hours to walk around and get the feel of the place. Again due to covid you have to go around in small parties.

I’ve been her before but as I have friends with me I wanted them to visit
The guy who was there brought to story of Harry Kelly alive thank you

My Mum who was from Port St Mary used to bring me as a child and she would be thrilled to see if she was still with us

It was a great day with lovely views, the tour guide was friendly and the history of the working village was interesting. Well done to all who keep it going!

After getting the train from Douglas and arriving at Port Erin on a very misty / foggy day I made my way to Cregneash. Unfortunately the weather did not improve and there was not very much to see due to the poor fog.
I am pleased to say that they were able to accept the Jersey heritage membership, due to them being closed last year the new manx cat they have is still a little timmed so unfortunately I did not get to see a manx cat.

We visited the village while we were on a coach tour, sadly it was an overcast day but we had a pleasant walk around the village, Harry Kelly's cottage and the farmhouse had ladies there explaining the history of the place which was quite interesting ,then a visit to the church before a cup of tea in the cafe, a very pleasant experience.

We had a fascinating tour of the cottages and area by an experienced guide. Great value and a really interesting insight into the history of the island. Definitely worth booking the tour - it wouldn't be remotely as intereting vwalking around on your own.

This small hamlet offers a cluster of thatched cottages, preserved well by Manx National Heritage and offering on-site staff (reduced numbers when we we there in early post-COVID period) to assist with history and interpretation of the artefacts.
As one of the last bastions of the Manx-speaking community in the 20th century, this folk museum rightly includes a focus on some of its higher profile residents responsible for preservation of the Gaelic language.
Overall, well worth a visit.

A collection of old manx cottages. One fully kitted out with a wood fire that was filling the house with smoke. Not sure how folk could live with that, never mind the guide who was in there. Great views from around the area. We saw our first manx cat here.

Though we did not visit the museum on our chilly, windy day we enjoyed a wander around the village and visited the shop and cafe. Very picturesque thatched houses with some open displays of tools and trades of the past in various barns/sheds.
would recommend a visit to the excellent cafe and also the little shop which sells a range of souvenirs of which some are locally crafted. This was the only place that we came across which had local work for sale.
Beautiful little church with interesting stained glass windows.
Car parking available just a short distance from the village. Well worth a stop to walk around and take in the history of the place

A great way to relive the history of the IOM. Staff dressed in costume, stoked fires using peat logs, made rag rugs and generally threw themselves in to showing visitors how life used to be. All staff explained the history, way of life and local traditions in an engaging, friendly and informative way. Well worth a visit!
