Wow! What an amazing place. Spent a few hours here, stepping back in time, chatting with guides followed by excellent lunch in café. Delicious home-made soup highly recommended. All the people we met were lovely, informative, helpful, friendly, welcoming. As promised I have written a review Harry (aka Brian) & Dog. Thank you all for a fantastic visit. Have no hesitation in highly recommending “The National Folk Museum at Cregneash”

A beautiful collection of old cottages that transport you back centuries and teach you all about the old life of rural Mann and the Manx language.
The staff are lovely and the two ladies we spoke to in the cottages were really knowledgeable and made things interesting, plus they were great with kids.
The cafe on site is small, so it's hard to get a table at peak lunch, but once you get a seat, the food is lovely, especially on a cloudy, windy day like we had!
All on all, an interesting place to visit

Visited here during stay on the Island and have to say that this coud be so much better than it is. The lady in the ticket office was lovely and the cafe was fine with lovely cakes, although I though them a bit pricey. Chatty bloke in Harry's cottage and a helpful lady in Church Farm tried to give the place a lift but the rest was all rather dour and lifeless. Nobody around to explain what we were looking at and bring the place some context. It coud be so much better with some "characters" around the place. Atleast parking just up the hill is free.

This is a great place to see the way of life on the Isle of Man in relatively recent times, and it demonstrates clearly the hardships of the crofting life. The cottages have been set up in a realistic manner, and the farmhouse was very authentic. Staff on duty were friendly and knowledgeable. Lovely views.

This is an old Crofters village and there is a mix of privately owned houses aswell as the xmuseumx ones there are about 5 or 6 houses to see and the most interesting is Harry's Cottage. Toilets are available and there is also a small cafe. If you like stone circles then Meayll Circle is worth a look, it's a bit of a treak over a craggy hill but there are nice views.

If you do nothing else when visiting Isle of Man do go here. It is completely amazing, So well preserved and the guides give you a wealth of information about the village and its past inhabitants. The short introductory film is well worth watching. While we didnt see the Manx cat while we were there we thoroughly enjoyed strolling round and hearing about the history. The little church is a delight too. We visited the tea rooms and had excellent scones with jam and cream. Can be highly recommended.

We visited on a very wet windy day so had to dash from one building to another. Staff helpful. Loved the church the people were so poor but still gave to build a church. Would have loved to stay longer but hopefully the weather will be kinder on our next visit. Worth a visit.

We nearly missed this place due to lack of signage, but I'm so pleased we found it. And it was free, as we are National Trust members! The staff were informative and helpful and there's lots to see if you're interested in social history. We didn't use the cafe but it looked nice. We did see a Manx cat and some Manx goats and the chap in Mr Kelly's cottage did speak some Manx for us. Lots of parking just out of the village and a short walk back. Excellent.

Nicely restored buildings give a flavour of traditional Manx life. Cafe is also excellent. A number of building were closed but still a really good experience and nice views over the Calf of Man too.

I have only one day on the Isle of Man (and will be arriving/leaving from Douglas. So I am trying to decide if I want to go north to the Grove Museum or the other direction to Cregneash? Can anyone who has visited both give me a recommendation on which one I should visit, as I won't have time to visit both? Thank you.

Hi, I believe the museum was previously known as Harry Kellys'Cottage, is that correct ? If I have that right my father was born there in 1903.,
