This was, by FAR, the best experience of our trip.
We were traveling Puglia with a group of wine friends and added this to our itinerary on the recommendation of one of our group. The drive was over two hours from our AirBnB, but with what we heard we were willing to accept the drive. And now, having been to Frrud and experienced the passion of Paolo and Donetto we would highly recommend this visit to anyone in the Puglia area.
To start, the story of the location, and the obvious love from Paolo set the stage.
The tour of the museum space was highly educational. We were a group of eight, many of whom have been involved in the wine industry for decades. And yet every one of us learned something unique from Paolo and added to our love of winemaking.
And then, we entered the wine cellar and were offered tastings of some of the best wines we have ever had, along with exceptional pairings with local cheeses, focaccia and Altamura bread. To say we were blown away would be an understatement.
To close the tasting, Paolo shared the story of how they connected with the vineyard they work with, and yet again, we saw the love and passion that is distilled into these wines.
If you are in the Altamura area, and are looking for a phenomenal historic and vinophile experience, this is, ABSOLUTELY the best option in the area.
