Very interesting and worthwhile visit

This is a must stop for all who are interested in Biblical history and anthropology and cultures of the region. I have visited this museum many times with international guests who were all fascinated to learn about the Samaritans. HaKohen Yefet and his team have done a great job documenting the history and faith of the Samaritan Israelites and building displays. I highly recommend visiting the Samaritan museum on Mount Gerizim.

Educational visit to learn about the great people living here

We come to Nablus often and this time we decided to go and visit the Samaritans to learn about their culture and way of life.

Husni Cohen welcomes us and spent an hour educating us about the traditions, culture and their religion.

We enjoyed our visit and learned a lot. A great place to visit if you go to Nablus.

An interesting site to stop at dedicated to the Samaritan people. There is not a lot to see but it is a learning experience.

Enjoyed our visit!

We arrived mid-morning by taxi, and were met by the Samaritan priest who devoted personal attention to us and allowed us to take photos of him. He spoke at least two languages, including English. He had a book for sale, based on an impressive background of biblical and historical study, as well as charts and other visual aids. Exhibits and models were nicely displayed, and staff were friendly. From the old part of Nablus, only about a 10-minute drive up-up-up the mountain. From there it’s a short walk to the Mt. Gerizim site, with another entrance fee.

Musee d'histoire des Samaritains (presque ) sur le site ou ils ont toujours vecus , depuis ?des dizaines de siecles.

A Strange One

The museum is all the work of the brother of the current high priest who is happy to give a talk and tour for a number of shekels as well as sell you a copy of his book which he will dedicate to you. It is set within an exclusive Samaritan community, who get on better with the local Palestinian population than the Jews because the Samaritans are the true descendant tribe of Levi all the way back to Adam, and the high priests brother has a chart to prove it. It all seemed a bit pointless to me, a quirk in religion but true to the exclusive nature of it by claiming to be more right than the rest

A Hidden Historical Treasure

There are only 814 Samaritans in the world. Half live on Mt Gerizm and half live in Tel Aviv, The museum informs you about the Samaritan Society and its' lineage to Adam and their role in the history of the Holy Land. The museum is small but informative. The village is quaint. Close to the museum is the area where the Pentacost sacrifice is made and the Museum explains this religious tradition.

Finalmente abbiamo capito chi sono i Samaritani e le differenza con l'Ebraismo canonico. Ridotti a poco più di 800 individui, hanno una storia molto particolare. Oltre alla visita del museo, abbiamo potuto usufruire di una conferenza del Direttore del Museo che ci ha spiegato tutto in un buon inglese. E' un popolo chiuso che conserva orgogliosamente le proprie origini ed un altro aspetto di questo Paese così complesso, ricco di cultura e, purtroppo, di contraddizioni.

One of our Highlights raveling through the Holy Land

This was one of the highlights of our trip. I loved the Samaritan Village and Museum and found it fascinating. One of the world’s only remaining Samaritan village. There are less than 800 Samaritans remaining worldwide, and about half live in this village, the only one of its kind. The people are so kind and welcoming and the young man who did the tour through the museum went out of his way to explain everything we wanted to know, his grandfather is the High Priest. Many tourist dont want to visit there because they told it could be unsafe but our guide got us there safely. The Samaritan Museum, which is a small but very interesting place where we learned about the Samaritans, their lifestyle & scriptures, and who was only too pleased to spend time with us and answer questions. Impressive that they only had one divorce in 100 years, they must do something right!!

My friends and I spent a morning here, and had a very informative tour given to us by a member of the Samaritan community. If you find yourself nearby, its a must visit!
