Respect, please show respect…

October 2021. Respect. How such death, misery, and tragedy could happen at such a beautiful place. This visit bookended a historical perspective as we had visited Port Albany, Australia in 2019, the embarkation point for Anzac troops destined for Gallipoli landing. Very moving visit to the Cove and other battle field areas and cemeteries. Please show respect while visiting.

So beautiful
jul. 2021
It is difficult to believe that a place so beautiful could be WWI battlefield. On a clear day, you could even have a picnic here. So much blood was shed here and the sombre atmosphere is befitting.

Anzac Bay

Quiet, peacefull place, next to sea, where they have landed and died. Usad as ceremonials every year at dawn by Anzacs. Sad, respectfull, clean, well maintained. They were not foes but brave friends to be killed to save our country.

Place of tragic history!
nov. 2019
Gallipoli has considerable meaning for me as I've heard many stories from a New Zealand friend, whose grandfather fought here. The coast is rugged and naturally beautiful, but the stories of the battles and futility of WWI are strongly in evidence. Numerous graves in the area. Very interesting to stop and read the names and background of the hundreds of soldiers tho died here. Beautiful words of Ataturk on a commemorative wall at one spot: "...There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side.... You, the mothers, who sent your sons frm faraway countries, wipe away your tears; your sons are now lying in our bosom...."

such a beautiful place, but such a tragic history, you don't need to be a history/war buff to get a true feeling for this place, tours on this site are greatly enhanced by having a guide that is well versed on the story of Gallipoli, the sites are well looked after Please remember these are war graves and treat the site with the respect it deserves

Memorial site

Anzac cove memorial cemetery is around the corner from we're the Australians and New Zealanders actually landed.

There is also a mass cemetery at a different site.

Worth getting a guide or taking a tour.

Beautiful cove with a tragic past
okt. 2019 • Par
Anzac cove is a beautiful, peaceful spot which tragically played host to a mass slaughter in 1915. It is hard to believe what happened here but the nearby cemeteries bear witness to the cavalier attitude warmongers have for their young men.
A speech give by Kemal ataturk in 1928 is carved on a large memorial summing up beautifully how those who were cut down are cherished in the bosom of Turkish soil.

Moving and gut wrenching

To see in the light of day what they could not see at night is horrifying. I looked at the graves on the beach and was struck by how many were in their late twenties, thirties and forties. Many of these had left wives and children behind to die on the wrong beach in a country they thought was a Christmas dinner.

Wonderful
sep. 2019
We visited Anzac Cove early in the morning and we missed all the crowds. We were the only ones there and our guide was very good. We could moved around with no problems and I recommend you get there early to beat the afternoon crowds.
There is a lot of history here and we were not disappointed. There was even a New Zealand soldier snorkelling to see the wreck and he was a very proud soldier.
This is a very emotional and moving place to visit and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
