Hi I cant recall because it was part of an organised tour.Its not much . The tour guide we had was fluent in English and his enthralling descriptions of life at the time i history was vivid , detailed and so interesting I still dream about the place. the web site probably had details. We also recommend the factory that makes the carved jewelery from shells.Amazing craftsmanship. If we go back to the area we will visit again. Three tips' be prepared take an umbrella, lots of water and comfy shoes as there is little shade; Look at Mt Etna and imagine the giant v shape diaappearing and then landing 10 seconds later! I think it depends on when you go as to long lines. When we went our guide handled getting tickets so we did not wait in line. We were there very early in the morning and I do not recall a long line. Not much later the site became very crowded so I assume there were some lines. Plus we were there in October, not high season.

Had no trouble understanding the guide. I find when you use the audio tours you miss out on the personal stories and knowledge that the guides expound upon.

Also there are shops in town that sell tickets for the tour, cheaper than hotel bookings and take a credit card, will pick you up from the hotel or very near.

I cannot remember the actual cost and the receipts have all been thrown away now. However, our hotel arranged a tour of both sites on the same day which works out cheaper. The guide was excellent and used the latest wireless communications. I think the 2 sites in 1 day only occur on Sundays. Beware though, I think the first Sunday in every month permits free access to the sites under Italian law and although that may seem attractive it will be very, very busy.
