I walked along this beach numerous times during my stay in New Zealand and never grew tired of it. There is lots of birdlife and the view of Kapiti Island is fantastic. How far you can walk depends, of course, on the tide. There are plenary of cafes, restaurants and shops for you to visit after your walk.

Wow - I had no idea this Beach existed as I have spent most of my life in Christchurch, and have grown up and loved the Beaches however, - I only wish Christchurch Beaches were as well presented/marketed as this. You dont have to spend a lot to have a great day - We got fish n chips (GF!!! which was amazing as I can't find them everywhere) and had them under the shade of a tree on the beach front. Afterwards we got a Gelato across the road. Great Boutique shopping. I could never afford to live there (as much as Id like to retire to somewhere like this) but you can visit and have a great day just visiting. I have family living in Otaki - just 25min away so you could stay somewhere like Otaki and just do day trips if $$'s are tight.

This Paraparaumu beach is stretched along approx 2km long waterfront, at the north the border is Waikanae River mouth, and the beach is going to the south until reach the town centre area along Marine Parade with all shops and eateries. It is a nice beach, facing Kapiti Island, with brownish fine sand, but cluttered with many driftwood make the beach is a bit messy. Anyway, a good place to spend for the whole family, including playground for the children with green area and car parking, and all are for free. Enjoy.

Papapapaumu Beach isn't a beach with soft sand as the ones in Gold Coast or Thailand. But we love it. I felt so relaxing and calm to hear the wave. We can't see anyone swimming (maybe it was also too cold) and it was quite quiet. you could walk along peacefully with the companion of seagull. They are not afraid of people and will follow you. you can see them enjoying the seashells. You can find seashells everywhere!

The beach south of the boat club is much nicer than the north side. The council does nothing to stop people driving on the beach illegally. (It’s legal to launch a boat or with a handicapped sticker).
Walking the beach south is great if you get the tides right and then you can make it all the way down to Paekakariki. North is limited by the Waikanae river.

Spending the weekend exploring the Kapiti Coast staying at Paraparaumu opposite Kapiti Island surrounded by beautiful beaches. Perfect spot for a swim, fishing and chilling out highly recommended

This is a good and reliable place to buy excellent fish and chips especially the fish. You can then go and sit in the park or on the beach and feed your left over chips to the seagulls.

I frequently visit Paraparaumu beach, never thought of leaving a comment about this, but this place is really worth a visit. The beach is lovely and the view special as Kapiti Island is just in front of it. There are lots of beach excess places, carpark in winter OK, not so sure about the summer. There are some nice spots to sit and enjoy the view, lots of pick nick tables. All well maintained.
