Nice hot springs, beautiful location, well organized for food and facilities. Most of the other tourists were locals which was nice. There is beautiful surrounding scenery and walks if you have the energy.

There are a few Ger camps and some hotel buildings clustered around Tsenkher Hot Springs. This review is about KHANGAI RESORT who consists of a hotel building and yurts.

I don‘t know what our guide was thinking to book us into this ramshackle hotel. The rooms are beyond old. The floor was dirty, the wallpaper was peeling from the wall, on the ceiling you could see severe water damage, the rooms smelled awful. The bathroom had a toilet (no shower) and to flush it you had to dip your hand into the dirty water of the open flush tank. Everybody was banging doors, because the room doors hardly opened and closed. The walls were paper thin. From our room window (the window handle felt off after use) we got the view of the hotel bulk trash For the whole complex with hotel and yurts they had 4 shower cubicles. Khangai Resort has two little tiled hot pools and a "VIP pool "(the size of a bathtub ). The pools were occupied by fully clothed teenagers/young adults.
In the evening we got a bad tasting dinner. I did not eat the chicken but my daughter did and she was throwing up (& more) the whole night.
The lady greeting us at the hotel (hotel manager ? Janitor ?) was very nice.
Everything else was disgusting.

In a pleasant verdant wooded area, some yurts camps with equipment and baths with a less hot temperature have been set up for the travellers, but also for the nomads and the inhabitants of Ulan Bator who are very keen on these baths. Tsenkher hot springs have healing properties notably on articular diseases and nervous system’s diseases. Composition: sodium carbonate, hydrocarbonate, sulfate, fluorite, hydrogen sulfide.

We came here to relax during our Mongolian adventure and it was interesting. It took forever to get here because there is no real road or signs. It was dark and we just kept heading towards the lights in the distance and eventually we arrived.

I do not remember any of the stone pools from the pictures and we were there for 2 days... It is more like 3 swimming pools that they fill with "hot springs" water. It is not continuous and can take up to 30 minutes for them to finish filling up a pool. There were a lot of kids around so we were happy to go in after 9pm and get fresh water.

The showers are communal (we didn't know this at first) so a pro tip would be to go in and you can lock the door behind you. The food is fine, but since it is Mongolia it won't have any flavor. They do have some salt/pepper/ketchup/hot sauce in case you want to go crazy...

We stayed in one of the cabins which was pretty nice. It was spacious and we slept in the loft. There is a private toilet which was nice and the living room had a couch and chair. There is no AC or a fan so be prepared if it is warm.

There is a lot of potential here and if you go in knowing all this in advance, you can enjoy yourself. You look out upon the hills and yak's/cows/horses that graze just outside of the fence line. The staff was very helpful and willing to accommodate us, but they didn't speak any English so our guide had to translate everything.

We came to this camp a bit tired and enjoyed time to spend in the hot springs pools. The camp was not overcrowded and we met up with others we had seen in other camps. Grass was a bit overgrown but the pools were the attraction here.

getting there - on a very rough piste across very picturesque, Edelweiss-strewn alpine meadows from the town of Tsenkher- takes some time, but the place is quite touristy. The setting is alpine, with meadows and fir trees and grazing yaks. The camp is OK, gers are on the small side and not as lovingly decorated as they are in some other camps, but OK. It can get very cold here at night, even in the summer, so do take up the staffs' offer to heat the little oven in your ger. The hot springs' water is funnelled into basins behind the ger camp's sanitary buildings. The shower room is a bit cramped, with slippery surface and no adequate space to store your clothes. The water in the basins is very agreeably warm, not scorching hot. The place was busy, but I found everything was very clean.

My least favourite place in Mongolia, crowded grubby pools and overcrowded facilities. Walks and views around are lovely. There was hair and dirt floating in the pools and I did not return back into the pool.
