Absolutely gem of a place to visit, especially seeing these beautiful creatures in their natural habitat. Credit to those who look after them.

It was absolutely amazing there was over 2000 pups and plenty of adult seals. What an experience. Well worth the drive and only £5 to park

My favourite part of the whole experience was after 5 years of dedicated travel each year on a day visit, was to bear witness to a pup being born. Magical !! It is nature at its best. So close to wild animals who accept you if you keep your distance.
I now book into the premier inn at cleethorpes for a few days the end of November so i get the chance to see my beloved seals every day for 5 days. Last season i still did a day visit the week after to show my grandson and his young lady.
Good footwear if wet and a warm coat is all thats needed. Always remember these are wild animals and you are the visitor in their territory. Common sense prevails. Well done to the lovely people who give up their own time to give information and protect them.

Very boring. Mainly due to the cold weather and high winds at the time, but after parking in the empty car park, we walked for a bit. Not much to see at this time of year, I’m guessing all the seals have left by now, but it’s just a vast expanse of nothing to see. Most areas you can’t go to because they do military training as the red flags were up. Would love to see the seals when they are there, but this time of year just is not interesting.

This is as easy as it gets for plentiful wildlife spotting.
From the car park you are straight into the action on a flat path walking past seal upon seal lounging about.
One of the two car parks were closed so folks were parking up the approach road, but still it wasn't far. Signs directed you on the approach road.
The downsides? Well, I've seen seals before without crowds, fences and in much more scenic locations than this. So this is far from my favourite seal experience but its a reliable, easy way of getting close to seals.

Fantastic experience that took almost no planning.
November and December only, really, when seals are breeding at the beach. On 17 December there were over 1000 pups on the beach. We went on 28 December and the number had gone down to about 40.
Still, brilliant experience to see animals in their natural environment.

Came here today with my wife and kids mainly out of my selfish need to take some nice photographs of the pups, but none of us were disappointed.
Hundreds of bulls, cows and pups were sprawled out along the beach with many, many pups alongside the fence so we all got really close and intimate encounters with the seals.
Along the walk there’s a shipping container with posters/information which was interesting and there’s Wildlife Trust workers and volunteers to answer any questions.
It was £5 to park in the main car park, but literally at the side, adjacent to the main car park there’s a free car park for the tight folk amongst us. There’s plenty of portaloos down the end of the car park which we’re very clean too.
For something that’s free, it’s very worthwhile taking a trip here and much better seeing these creatures in their natural environment than in a sanctuary. I’d also like to add it’s not wheelchair friendly but if you’re able to walk up around 15 gradual steps, you’ll get to a very flat walk on the beach front which is manageable for people who require assistance to walk.

1st time at Donna Nook and have to say was not disappointed, even if the weather was cold and rainy, nice to be able to be so close to the seals without causing them distress, parking is ample, though getting quite muddy now weather is turning,
also there were veg stands in car park for getting fresh veg for Christmas!
lovely day out.

Are Seals in any danger at the range
The Northern Traveller
Plymouth, UK178 bidrag
I don’t believe they are in any danger to be honest. I’m curious to ask why you would ask this question? Unless you mean are they a danger to spectators?
There’s a meshed fence along the whole length of Donna Nook and most seals are 5+ meters away from the fence but you do get pups alongside it after birth. I’d encourage children not to put their fingers through the fence as there’s always a chance of bites.
There’s a small building on the seafront belonging to the Wildlife Trust and there’s representatives along the length of the trail that keep an eye out on the seals and spectators. Hope this answers your question Dave 👍🏼

hi I wondered if anybody knew whether the seal reserve was accessible for an electric scooter/wheelchair ?

We have been going to Donna book 7 years to visit the seals. If you park in the designated disabled car park, there is a wooden walk way with ramps then onto the pathway to the seals. It is quite uneven but I have seen all ages in disabled scooters as well as others pushing buggies
Hi is it open in January

Sorry; only just seen your question. I'm sure it is open, but I wouldn't expect to see many seals if any at all. I believe the seals head back to sea latest end of Dec / early Jan.

Hi I'm coming from Cardiff by public transport. Intending to come during the week when it's seal pupping time. Obviously, I intend to stay overnight and I've found accommodation 2.5 miles away. Wanted to check if I could walk it - is it safe to walk along the country road? Is anyone knows of the best route - looks like I could go to Sheffield (maybe stay a night there) or via Grimsby.

It's a very busy time in pupping-season and there will be huge crowds. Hence the narrow little roads will be very busy.

Hi sue going on our first visit 😀 looks like you’ve been a few times can you please advise what time to get there we are early birds. Are there different parts? Is a boat trip worth it ? Any good places pubs to eat ?
Any other tips

Get there early as poss as gets very busy as we,re coming towards peak pupping time.No boat trips l,m afraid , it is a very out of the way bleak place , normally just a M.O.D. bombing range. If red flags flying keep beach side of the fence and markers. North Somercotes is your nearest refreshments with pub , shops , Indian etc. Sometimes a burger van will be present at the car park. No toilets at beach but there are public toilets at North Somercotes near playing fields...use google maps. Just up the road at Mablethorpe at the Beck pub is the best daily cavery on the coast....hope this helps.

Are there likely to be any seals on 20th Oct weekend or is it too early?
Valerie T
Louth, UK1 636 bidrag
It is too early. You need to be there November, December. There are a few left by the beginning of January. Try to avoid weekends, or get there early. The free car park gets very busy. There is a pay car park, (weather permitting) with toilets. Enjoy.

Is there anywhere to buy refreshments from at the Reserve or should I bring a flask?
Maurice J
Derby, UK215 bidrag
As SaraB has explained only at certain times of the year are hot/cold refreshments available those being when the pups are being borne and early rearing (Oct/Nov ish). as far as I know only one car park does this however there was another signposted local car park that also provides toilet facilities.
