Excellent wee island to visit, been a few times now! The ferry over is great and the people are just lovely. The walks are signposted really well and they give you a leaflet when you pay the £6 return fee for your ferry trip. The church in my photo was only maybe a 30 minute round trip walk from the ferry landing. Most other walks take longer, you could easily spend all day here.

We only managed to walk around a quarter of the island but the scenery is amazing. Lots of wildlife, it was very peaceful, we would love to go back and see some more!

Well worth the effort and time taken to get here. Only had time for a walk halfway down the Island but it really is an unspoilt haven. Make time for lunch at the Boathouse.

We walked the Livingstone route with a mix of woodland and coastal walk on well milked path in complete solitude. Walk of about 4 miles with stunning views across to The cliffs of Mull. Ulva is well worth the visit

Easily accesible from the west of Mull via a ferry running 9-5pm. £6 return for adults and £3 for children. The island has just celebrated its 1st year of community ownership and welcomes visitors to explore. There is no accommodation on the island itself other than 2 bothys but we did see some wild camping.
There are 6 well signposted tracks of 1 to 6 hours duration, all with different characterr and views. You may be lucky enough to see sea and golden eagles, hen harriers and otters but if now there will still be much to delight the naturalist or historian. Its also a kids paradise.
Cyclists are welcomes but its noteworthy that the tracks are rough and often muddy so buggies and bikes qill need to be the off road sort.
The cafe serves food til 4pm and drinks/ cake til 5pm.
Sheila's Cottage is a fascinating heritage centre covering the geological and historical facts about the island.

We had a great day on Ulva. There are multiple walks of variable lengths to suit all ages and levels of enthusiasm. The Boathouse Restaurant offered a delicious lunch after exploring.

You get across on a little ferry from Mull. A quirky way to all the ferry across as you'll see. Cost is £6 for adults with reductions for children. Takes about 3 minutes to cross. There's a lovely little cafe on the otherside serving homemade foods and drinks. They have a range of walks set out in time duration. With the shortest walk an hour long. It was so lovely we wished we'd found it sooner. The last ferry runs back at 5pm.

We walked from the boathouse, after coffee and cake, clockwise along the south coast and up to the livingston cottage, then back along the spine of the island.

Varied walking territory, definitely boots.

Saw an otter fishing in an inlet on the south coast whilst having lunch. Also sea eagles later on.

A brilliant afternoon spent "navigating" muddy paths around the woodland and basalt columns walks (bring sturdy boots or wellies!). Spotted two sea eagles and had a close encounter with a golden eagle not long after leaving the ferry landing! We bought a lovely coffee to finish off our walk before catching the last ferry at 5pm - don't be late!

Easy to get to be taking the ferry over. Pay for your return ticket at the Boathouse on the island.
Once on the island, Sheila's cottage gives you some history of the Island and you get a map of walks to do ranging from 1-6 hrs.
The place is rugged but very picturesque.
The Boathouse is a welcome stop after a walk, serving hot drinks, snacks and meals in a warming environment.
Definitely worth a few visits. Ensure you have walking shoes and waterproofs.
