This is not the best snorkelling you can do but 400 peso for a private boat for just me it was pretty good. The young lad was in the water pointing things out but unfortunately he had no idea what anything was called. He helped me picking up the few bits of plastic floating around. Plenary of live coral and fish considering we were not far from shore. We did 4 different spots and as an experienced snorkel guide myself I left satisfied.

We rented a kayak at the port of Coron to get there (800 pesos for the day). Be careful, 1 hour of paddling facing the wind and running so not for everyone. There are boats that also go there for the less adventurous but it is more expensive. Easy snorkeling and lots of fish/corals. Quite busy.
Possibility of crossing the strait by kayak from here to Coron Island (this is less distance but don't overestimate your abilities)

The last time we visited Coron was only a couple of years after Super Typhoon Yolanda and many of the coral reefs in the area were badly damaged and had yet to recover. So, we were thrilled to see a healthy abundance of colorful reef fish and corals at Siete Pecados!
It's a protected marine sanctuary, so larger tour boats are allowed to moor for only short periods of time (around 20-30 minutes). However, if you go to the Sitio Maquinit beach/port near Maquinit Hot Springs, you can hire a small outrigger boat, or bangka, at the little tourism office for about P300 + P200/person (marine sanctuary fee) to take you the short distance to Siete Pecados. The office can provide life jackets but it may not have any snorkel gear available, so it's best if you bring your own. You should also bring any food and water you may need, though there's a small sari-sari store where you can buy snacks and drinks.
These smaller bangkas are allowed to stay longer at Siete Pecados, so our boatman led us on a swim around two islets where we saw even more beautiful corals and fish than in the usual area near the boat moorings. We loved it so much, we returned the next day for another round. Our boatman "Boy" (his bangka is called "J-Boy") also took us snorkeling around a cluster of giant clams and at Coral Eden (full of blue, yellow and purple branch corals), as well as a rocky outcropping that had a hidden hotspring inside and picturesque Calachuchi Beach for a serene post-snorkel rest.
It's approx 20-25 minute bumpy ride by tricycle from Coron Town. You should negotiate with your driver to wait and take you back to town or hotel as it may be difficult to get another tricycle in the village. Avg cost is around P600-800 for a roundtrip plus 1 hour wait; we paid our driver P100 per additional hour of waiting.
But whether on a large boat tour, private bangka hire or kayak rental, Siete Pecados is a must-do, can't-miss snorkeling experience!

For some reason our private guide was not exactly keen to bring us here but I insisted since we chartered the boat.
We arrived by 8 :30 and the visibility was poor. If I had another day I would have tried to visit again. I enjoyed the snorkelling and saw some fish species I did not see before and the corals were beautiful. I hoped the area would be bigger but we soon reached a patch of less pristine corals and were asked to return to the boat.
If my guide gave me better advice on day one I would have visited twice to get better conditions. My guide mentioned people spearfishing in the area during lockdown.
This is sad since tourism can bring money but then the reason you travel half way around the world for must be protected to be worth it.

Bonsoir,

Can you tell me how long is the boat ride from Coron Port to Siete Pecados. How about Kayangan Lake? We are looking for a place where' we can enjoy the beauty but the kids will not get seasick. Thank you
Skrevet 12. april 2018
It will take an hour, if you will book the group tour you will be in maybe 5-6 places and if your kids will enjoy the view of the ocean and activities, they will not get seasick. We joined the group tour and there are many kids with us on that boat and no kids get seasick, they enjoyed swimming and looking for coral reef. Visit coron from March-may, the best time and sea is calm. But please advise them don’t throw anything in the sea or anywhere for us to help them to keep the place clean. I hope this will help

I will be travelling here with my family and also my (by April) 22 month old son, I need advice on whether it will be too hard to do this island/activity with him or should I leave him with the grandparents ?
Skrevet 18. februar 2018
You will have a hard time since you will watch over him. Unless you bring his yaya. I brought my almost 3 year old with my 8 and 15 yr old. I watched my 3 yr old all the time. The twin lagoon is accessible through swimming to it, so we ended up staying on the boat. And Kayangan lake , you will have to carry him up. I did. And there’s another like that you’ll have to go through makeshift steps that you’ll have to carry him up. My other kids had blast though. I did too though I did get to swim.

I travelled with my 4 year old son and my cousin had his 3 year old son . They just remained on the boat with our wives whilst we snorkelled in the stunning waters. If you can leave with grandparents then do so....

Does anyone know how much is the entrance fee? I can't seem to find any updated fees online. Thanks in advance.
Skrevet 2. februar 2018
There is entrance fee if you will do it by yourself going there. I will suggest you to book a group tour in the hotel or guesthouse you will stay with and you need to pay certain amount for package and you will visit 5-6 area. You will not need to think anything as soon you get in the boat. They will provide even good, drinks and all u need to use in Snorkeling, plus the guide who will tell u about the places you will go
Skrevet 22. mai 2018
Is it possible to snorkel/swim out to this site instead of paying for a very expensive boat? (Its only approx 300m from land)
Skrevet 2. november 2017
Sorry just now I saw this. You don’t need to rent a boat. Just join the group tour and they will bring you in this site and you can snorkel in certain times. They will bring you in so many places that you can snorkel, in lunch time they will bring you in one island to have your launch and chill a little bit and they have amazing coral garden for you to swim round after your lunch
Skrevet 22. mai 2018
How deep is it if I do snorkeling?
Skrevet 23. august 2017
It can vary from a mere 5 feet to really so deep that you won’t be able to see the ocean floor. If you are not a swimmer or not used to snorkelling, wear a life jacket. You can ask the boatmen the shallow areas and deep areas. Usually, they dock in areas 10 feet to 20 feet deep, where the currents won’t carry you away. My recommendation is you rent the boat with my friend boatman Rick Dapito.
