You must do the Pind Daan process through Bharat Sebashram situate near railway station. They will assign a priest to you or your group. The charge is reasonable. Otherwise, you may be in the hand of local Pandas and loose quite a bit of money. The places (you have to visit three places by car or auto) where you are supposed to do the rituals are dirty though sweepers are there. They do not keep the place clean. On the contrary, they ask for money as sweeper. Auto ricksaw charge is Rs 400 from Bharat Sebashram.
Take Dhuti with you to perform the rituals. No married lady (even single child) is allowed to do the rituals of her parents. She may stay with her husband who will do everything on her behalf.
You must avoid the dates like "Ekadashi and Amabashya" to do the Pind Daan in peace.

Everyone from our family who came to Gaya in last Our family in last 50+ years, stayed in Bharat Sevashram Sangha for pind daan. As far as we know this is the safest place in Gaya for this purpose. You'll find their office at the railway station, go to the office, they'll only arrange for an auto to come to main ashram. Autos charge Rs 25/ person. You don't have to make any prior room booking.
From Bharat Sevashram Sangha a pandit will be arranged for rituals. He will accompany you throughout. He didn't demand any particular amount from us but it's better if you carry a dhoti or saree or gamchha for the pandit.
Pind daan is done in 3 places and make sure to keep plenty of Rs 10/20/50 changes.
As most of us may be aware that the worst part of your entire Gaya experience could be the pandas. True to their nature in every single place we went for the rituals they aggressively demanded money from us, going to the extent of threatening us that the panda (much younger than I am) would not bless us for the amount we were offering and the relative we performed the rituals for, would be be unhappy wherever he is. We, however, stood our ground and told them even if they chose not to bless us and the soul is unhappy because we can't afford the amount the pandas are demanding we still can't help it and won't pay that much. After a lot of argument we finally paid Rs 200/-. We had to bargain at every corner at the 3 places we had to perform rituals & quite frankly felt disgusted because all of us go there because we lost someone close to our heart.
The ashram issues food coupon for lunch on that day. So after you're back you can have lunch at the ashram. Our Pandit Sripada Mishra (selected by the Ashram) was very good, we were very happy with his work.
So in a nutshell, if you're going to Gaya for pind daan be prepare to resist the pandas' aggressive demands.
And, I absolutely recommend people seeking guidance from Bharat Sevashram Sangha for pind daan. They are the most genuine ones in Gaya.

I would like to submit my review regarding my best experience, I had, in Gaya. Before going to Gaya, I came to know about Bhanu Kumar Shastriji and I contacted him. He answered the phone within a few rings and when I explained to him about my desire to perform Pinda Daan, he explained to me that how it can be done in Gaya and advised me to come to perform. I also asked him for my accommodation and he said he would arrange. My wife and myself went to Gaya on 28th May 2022 and went straight from the airport to Vishnu Paad and enquired about his residence. By the grace of GOD, Bhanu Kumar Shastriji's assistant was nearby and he offered us his help and took us to his residence. We were provided a nice airconditioned room and the assistant brought dinner for us.
The same day we met Shastriji and he was so polite and humble and made us comfortable by giving us the way forward for the proceedings and arranged everything, whatever we wanted.
He did not ask us any money and did not speak any terms.
When we asked him, he said to pay whatever was our budget. He did not demand any money from us.
We stayed there for two days and he arranged everything.
We were so happy that BY GOD's GRACE, we landed in the safe hands and performed our Shrardham and Pinda Daan with a fullest satisfaction.
On our request, he also arranged our onward journey to Varanasi by a taxi for a reasonable fare(petrol driven cars).
From the bottom of my heart, we thank the ALMIGHTY, Bhanu Kumar Shastriji and his assistant.
We strongly recommend to contact him, if you have any plan to go to Gaya for any ritual.
Our Best wishes to him for Long and Happy life.
We Pray that GOD gives him strength and life to continue his great services to humanity
Warm Regards. Karthikeyan/Malaysia

Performed Pind Daan on 28th Mar’22 with the help of Bharat Sevashram Sangha. As we were already staying in Bodhgaya, we visited Bharat Sevashram one day before and consulted the Swamiji there, who explained us about the entire procedures and estimated cost at every stages. Basis their advice, on the day of Pind Daan, we reached the ashram early morning at around 6.45. By the time we reached, there was already a long que of around 50-60 devotees. It took around one and half hours to get a pandit. Bharat Sevashram Sangha arranges pandits for the devotees, one pandit is generally attached to 4-5 devotees. Predominantly Bengali devotees were in que, however Bihari and Oriya devotees were also there and ashram arranged pandits accordingly. While most of the devotees were staying in the ashram, there were also people like us, who were staying outside. Ashram issued a Yellow card for reference for both inhouse and outside devotees. This card is stamped and used as gate pass at the time of exit from the ashram. An experience pandit was assigned to us, a group of 5 devotees. The pandit again informed us about the procedures and estimated expenses. The first pind daan took place at the side of Falgu River, then at Vishupad temple and the 3rd is at Akshay Bot tree. In all these 3 places, one has to pay to the pandas, though nominal like Rs. 200 at each place. The rituals were performed satisfactorily peacefully however the pandas keep on disturbing me to know the details of my ancestors, don’t know how but my ancestors name was appearing in multiple khata of the pandas, and all were disturbing me during the rituals, it is said that such information indicates which panda will get the pranami of the pind daan. While return, Ashram also provides lunch. Overall, with the help of Bharat Sevashram Sangha it was a hassle free pind daan, performed satisfactorily and economically as well

Why Bihar Badnam culture. Pind Daan area is a filthy dirty Place and the side of Falgu River is Latrine area of a local highly dance population, no one can walk without smashing it to collect the water from the river for puja. It is an example of the height of administration failure for any district in India. No one can believe this Latrine water we are using for God Naryan Puja sprinkling on Head and on Puja. I think DM will be the curse by every drop of this Flagu water. A group of Cheater name Panda is cheating helpless pilgrims and making loads of money. Not a single Policeman is visible and I am sure if anybody protests against these Panadas there is a life risk. When I had to pay total of RS 3000 then if a minimum of 200 people there per day, then 6 Lakh x 30 days mean 1.8 Cr monthly and yearly turnovers will be around 20cr or more. All this money is distributed to all these pandas without any work or contribution may be it goes to every level of this chain. At least 20+ people ask my Father’s name and grandfather’s name and I had answered them stopping my Puja. No system or procedure, there’s a website but of no use. I strongly object to this administration of Gaya district and I do the needful according to my capacity

I have just come back from Gaya two days ago after having done Pind Daan pooja. I had after going through quite a few reviews got in touch with Bhanukumar Shastriji ( 8051402269 / 9934089203 ) for doing the pooja. He is of the third generation of Vedic Brahmins in his family to be doing these rituals. He does these rituals properly and most importantly he explains to you at each step as to what is being done and the significance of the same. One more very important thing is he has made arrangements for our stay at a very reasonable price and the location is just next door to the Vishnupad Temple where the Pind Daan is done. This saved us a lot of time and energy. Another very important thing is he does all these rituals as per your budget.
A few things to remember when visiting Gaya
1. You are not going on a picnic. So temper your expectations
2. You will be in a completely different world where things are quite different from a normal place. Here specifically the only thing you go to do is Pind Daan and the entire atmosphere is all about that
3. You will meet a lot of beggars and Pandas ( Poojaris ) who will pester you and make your life miserable. Be ready for that. Keep a lot of loose change for the beggars.
4. Normal people in Gaya are absolutely courteous and civil and very helpful

A place of history and legends. Where Lord Shiva is suppossed to have set foot on a stone.
Where your prayers for your loved ones who are no more, are heard. If you go with deep love and reverence, your prayers will be heard.
Since the afterlife is not that of this physical matter, it the energy of your deep thought which can uplift them onto a better realm.
Try going to 'Darri walaa'. For generations these people keep a record of visits. You might find an ancestor who had come.
They have originals from various Sikh Gurus and many more. Definitely worth a visit.

The place is hardly livable, filled every inch of it with people, very dirty, service was bad. Just one thing was good, which is purity of food (not taste).

My Mom has expired on 20th Feb 2022 & we are booked tickets for Amarnath Yatra on 6th of July now want to know is it good or bad & i am the elder son
The pandits in Gaya did the Pind daan after three months of my mother-in-law’s death. And they said not to perform any Barsi as her journey is completed. Also they mentioned we can just do normal Pooja that day nothing in name of my Monterey-in law. I am not sure and not convinced with this as my understanding is different. Also, not comfortable resuming festivals without Barsi… Is there any alternate solution for this? And /or can some one please clarify as her Barsi is on Aram navmi and is approaching ..
Can Pinda prdaan be done at Gaya before one year of death? And if they perform all the rituals in Gaya and shradha also one still should do Barsi?
