Tram Chim National Park was nice. Our tour guide taught us a lot about the many birds there. However, August might not be the best time to visit. It's better to come later, like in September or October. I heard that during that time, there will be a lot of birds chirping and the lotus will be blooming.

beautiful park, I went there for a short weekend getaway, feel like you should spend a lil more time, like 3-4 days

Khi bạn đến thuê xuồng kéo và mua đồ ăn bia rượu theo trên xuồng kéo thì xuồng sẽ kéo bạn đi tham quan vòng vòng vườn quốc gia tạo cho bạn sự trãi nghiệm trên sông nước vô cùng tuyệt với, bạn có thể len lõi vào những rừng tràm ngập nước của Tràm chim và xem đủ các loại chim của vườn quốc gia

This place certainly has potential. We were hoping to get a solar or quiet electric boat, but they simply do not exist. So we ended up in one o their noisy motor boats, which disturbed birds and was no good for bird watching. The driver of the boat had no interest in birds and drove way too fast. Staff spoke very little English. Considering this is a Ramsar site, it was quite disappointing for us. This place should and could do much better!

Great place to relax and enjoy nature. Lots of birds. Relaxing boat ride. Friendly locals. This area is still being developed so advisable to bring some of your comforts and some packed food. Many local eateries but only a handful speaks English.

Thank you for your reviews and choose solar energy boat or wooden boat for bird watching trip and experience the eco-system without noisy than engine boat.
If you wanna see more birds you should stay in homestay in Tram Chim and take a boat trip in the early morning (around 6.00 - 6.30 AM) for the long trip and you see a lot of bird by solar energy boat.

I just wanted to share a few words to protect everybody from falling into this tourist trap. I got there without a tour, they told me that the tickets were all sold out and I had to wait for a boat to get back, I asked them how long I'd have to wait, I got no answer, could be an hour could be a day. I went to the pier myself, I booked a local pirate boat. What I mean by this, is some people, probably working for the park, are braking the rules, and are able to strike deals with tourists and take them to the exact same tour at a small fragment of the price. If memory serves, I paid around 10% of the official price to have the exact same tour, maybe the boat was not as good, but the route was the same. After taking the tour, I thanked god I didn't by tickets at the ticket office, as it'd definitely wouldn't be worth the money, nothing interesting whatsoever, although I got there during the period that the birds are supposed to come back to the park. Yeah, there were some birds that we saw from distance, the park itself was uninteresting in terms of landscape, and that was it. I'd definitely recommend to skip this "attraction" even if it's on your way to somewhere.

Thank you for your reviews. We are sorry to see your comments but you should book your tour with the exact price in advance as we can consult you the route and time you can see the rare birds than you try to book the tickets in tourist trap.
Moreover, we noted that you should hire solar energy boat or wooden boat for bird watching trip and experience the eco-system without noisy than engine boat.

We should have skipped the feature tour of the park. This tour to the area A1 of the preserve is a waste of money. They charge 800000 vnd for the boat. So if you have 20 people in your group then it’s reasonable price. The A1 tour takes you around the swamp. You may see some wild life but not a whole lot. If you want to see more storks, you should take the evening small tour to the area A2. In this area in the evening around 5:30 the thousands of storks are flying home to their nests. The tour costs 250000 vnd per person with a minimum of 4 guests. Every tour in Tram Chim is pricey if you don’t have a big group. If you go on a weekend, you can share the boat ride cost with other tourists. However, we were there on a Monday. The preserve is fairly empty, so we had to pay full price for the tours.

Vaut clairement le détour à notre avis. Balade d'une vingtaine de minutes dans les petits canaux sur une pirogue. Et tout cela ne coûte presque rien !
Ce qui est un peu coûteux est le transport jusqu'au parc. Depuis Cai Be nous avons payé environ 32$ (800k vnd) pour deux personnes en taxi privé.

We visited it in early March 2017. It's not the right season so we were happy enough to spot around 10 birds. We chose the towing wooden boat, hoping that it was free of the engine noise so we could enjoy the peacefulness of the nature. Unluckily, towing means towing by a engine boat. The driver was kind enough to turn off the engine once in a while, though. I guess there would be a special type of boat (ie. no engine noise) for the tour in Sep-Dec (the rain season = mating and hatching season of the birds) so we would be able to get closer to the birds without disturbing them.
We had a lovely experience of having lunch on the boat. Delicious food at very reasonable price (grilled snakehead fish with young lotus leaves, a specialty of the region; small shrimp stir fried with "điên điển" flowers), etc, on the boat slowly floating along the stream, in the quietness of the nature and under the fresh wind.
To get there:
+) We took a taxi from Cao Lanh town for around 35 USD two ways, including waiting time.
+) We discovered that there is a bus route from Cao Lanh town center with a stop just outside the park. The fare is much less than 1 USD per person. Ask for the bus route to Tam Nông.
+) From a guy in our boat tour group: He took a coach directly from Western station (Bến xe Miền Tây) in Ho Chi Minh city and was dropped off very near the park. After spending 4-5 hours (at most) at the park, he caught the coach back to HCM. Please check at the station for more precise information if you take this option.
