We have just returned from a week on Bosworth and cannot recommend it enough!! From the moment we arrived we were made welcome and at home. As this was our first time on a narrow boat we were a little apprehensive but Julian and the team put us instantly at ease. Nothing was a problem for the Ashby Boat Team and we were soon on our way after our initial induction. Julian was able to advise us on possible routes that we could do with all maps, information and instructions filed onboard. The boat was immaculate and had more than we needed on board. As all fuel is included there are no hidden costs so nothing to worry about when you are cruising the canals. Needless to say we will be back!! Many Thanks!!

We’ve been holidaying on canal boats for over 20 years, including once before on the Ashby Canal (13 years ago!).
We returned to Ashby Boat Company for a family holiday, and had the boat “Bosworth”. The boat is very, very spacious for 6 people, and can sleep up to 10. Importantly, there is plenty of storage (including drawers under the beds, and some massive wardrobes). There were two good bathrooms and a well-equipped kitchen.
What made the boat special was the thoughtful extra things provided. A vase of flowers on the table, an up-to-date copy of Pearsons Canal Companion, towels, folding chairs to sit on the towpath, etc.
Price-wise, the holiday was very good value. This is partly because everything is included in the price with Ashby Boat Company - no paying extra for diesel at the end of your holiday like with some other hire companies. Even the Pearsons Canal Companion saved us £12 as we didn’t need to buy our own. With 6 of us, it worked out at about £40 per person per night. We cooked on the boat most nights, so it was really quite reasonable for the holiday overall.
We’d highly recommend canal boating generally, and Ashby Boat Company particularly. Hope this is helpful!

We just finished a narrow boat trip on the Ashby Canal using Ashby Boats. This was a bucket list item for us and Ashby made it great! From the very beginning Julian was so helpful and made it so easy. We had never done it before and he was just so helpful. I can’t say enough good things and highly recommend using them. When we arrived an got started Rob went along and showed us how to use the boat and it made such a big difference. The boat was clean and well maintained, we loved it!

A wonderful few days cruising the Ashby Canal thanks to the people at Ashby Boat Company. Our narrow boat, Carlton, was spotlessly clean, fully equipped with everything you could possibly need, including sou'westers, which thankfully were not needed. Thanks to Julian and particularly Mark for showing us the ropes and giving us a thorough run through and guide before letting us loose on the canal.
If you are looking for a canal holiday I can highly recommend Ashby Boat Company. This was our first time hiring a boat for longer than a day the lock free Ashby Canal was an ideal place to start and the Ashby Boat Company couldn't be faulted.
First class boat and first class service.

May 2022, just returned from a fantastic weeks holiday on a Hawkesbury 10.
This holiday was booked pre-covid so a very long wait! But defiantly worth waiting for.
We were 4 generations from Cornwall on board, as we don't have a canal system in Cornwall we were complete novices. Thanks to Julian and his team at Ashby boats we were soon under way. Some of our crew were sailors used to big open sea's as we live near Falmouth. A great experience, would highly recommend and would go again. Boat well equipped and comfortable.

We just had a lovely week exploring the Ashby and North Oxford Canals on Carlton. The team are really friendly and welcoming, the boat was beautiful, well equipped and finished to a very high standard, It was great to have armchairs and (unusually) we had far more storage than we could use.

What a Christmas..... Having hired from many other Narrowboat companies, Ashby Boats are by far the best company we have hired from. We decided to try a canal holiday over the festive season and thoroughly enjoyed every second. Julian and his team were very welcoming upon our arrival. Our boat Hawkesbury was the best boat we've ever come across, there was a lot of attention to detail. The beds were so comfortable with lovely bedding provided. The boat was very clean and tidy and well equipped for our family of 9. It was freezing on some days but the heating inside the boat was lovely and toasty. We had a fab Christmas and are looking forward to returning with Ashby again in May 22. We will now only be booking with Ashby boats from now on!!!!

We were fortunate enough to enjoy a wonderful weekends break on the Measham boat courtesy of the Ashby Boat Company! We were extremely impressed with the cleanliness of the boat & the facilities. Julian and Rob couldn't have been more helpful and informative which was needed given we are complete boating novices!!! We loved everything about our break and would highly recommend the Ashby boat company!

Our group of four have just enjoyed a fabulous mid-week break on Measham. From the start, booking and communication were excellent. The team was friendly and efficient. Our boat was clean, comfy, and well equipped, and all instruction and information was useful.

4 middle aged chaps on a day boat. Just brilliant. Welcome was warm and the instructions got things just right,informative and clear without being patronising. The boat itself was perfect for what we needed, and the guidance on where to go really helpful. The trip itself was great fun and watching the world move slowly by as we nattered and boozed was delightful. Heartedly recommended as a day out
