This was our first trip to Bure Valley Railway it was well worth the visit. We did a return and ate at the cafe. We missed the 3pm train as there was a small mix up with our lunch order, but we managed to have a good look round the shop before travelling back. Certainly one to go back to

We took the return trip from Wroxham to Aylsham. £22 each per adult. You get allocated your compartment in the train on both trips. Mostly fields as the views with a path the whole length parallel to the track for walking or cycling. You could do a single and walk back but it is around 9 miles. The train takes 45 minutes each way.
Not much to do in Aylsham, shops, pubs and coffee shops. About 10 minute walk from station but there are buses. 3 hours is plenty.

We had a fun day! I had a go at helping with the turntable. Grandpa loved the train and I liked the chips. Chips chips 🍟 are extremely good. Best ever! I loved them. I was a little bit sad about the loss of finishing them. 😩😫😭😭😭 I told the owner of macdonalds that he should sell the company after I tasted your chips and now my mum wants to come too! (so do I) CHIIIIIIPPPPPSSSS Please thank the chips (and the fryer)

We went on the Steam Train from Wroxham to Aylsham which is a narrow gauge railway the journey taking 50 minutes and the cost of the return was £22.00 each. It is well worth the 10 minute walk to go into a quaint Alysham town and view the shops and church. On the return journey back to Wroxham it is worth having a look in the shop at the station which sells CD’s, books and other memorabilia. The station parking is free and the gate closes at 5.15pm. Regards Gary

Such good value for money.Had coffee and scones in cafe before departing, tasted homemade. You are allocated a carriage on your ticket so no rush to board.Train staff welcoming and happy to answer questions.45 minute journey from Aylsham(free parking)to Wroxham.Short walk into Wroxham from station,we headed straight to the Red lion pub just past the Roy’s Shopping centre,it,s on the left and has outside space by the river to get pub food and drink.Did not explore town as just wanted train ride,45 minutes back to Aylsham and this time behind engine and watched driver shovelling the coal.Great for all ages and abilities

Back after 10 years and the railway is still a friendly, dog friendly place to visit, with excellent amenities and staff, with an extensive railway service. Nice journey through the countryside. The only thing that has changed is now you get allocated seats when you book in - this is a pity as we like to walk along the platform and chose a seat. I can see the need for this in really busy times but to us it spoilt the visit

What a delightful little railway. My daughter and I visited and had a wonderful day exploring Wroxham then enjoying a ride through the countryside behind Spitfire. Our overriding impression was of a beautifully kept attraction. Everything was clean, tidy and well maintained and the staff from the lady in the ticket office at Wroxham onwards were all welcoming and helpful. I would especially commend the floral displays which were everywhere on the stations. We had a very tasty lunch in the café at Aylsham and I particularly enjoyed my lemon scone. My daughter had the soup option and said it was delicious. We lost half an hour and found some gems in the second hand bookshop at Wroxham and thought the souvenirs and snacks available at the booking offices were well priced and well laid out. Obviously a lot of work and love has gone into making this an excellent place to visit.

Part of an organised coach trip a return trip to Wroxham. A delightful little railway with shops at both end and a Cafe. A pleasant ride through the Norfolk countryside in small but relatively comfortable carriage. Well worth a visit.

We started our trip in Aylsham ending at Wroxham where we spent a few hours eating, drinking and shopping in Roys before our return journey. Free parking at the station is a bonus along with spotless toilets and friendly staff. Overall a great day out on a fabulous steam train through beautiful countyside. Highly recommended.

What is car parking like at either end of the line? Which is better?
Skrevet 5. mai 2022
Not Being a Driver, I can't really answer this question, However there is possibly more spaces at Aylsham as you can get coaches at Wroxham. Aylsham tends to the busier of the Terminal stations. as the HQ are are there as with the Engine Sheds.

We are thinking about getting the train to Aylsham and walking to Blickling Hall. It looks like it can be done but I'm just going off Google. Does anyone know if there is a route anywhere to download please
Skrevet 11. juni 2019
I cycled the road last week and the two mile journey is an easy walk along the roadside. You will love Blickling Hall.Make sure you walk around the lake too.

Hello, We will be boarding the train at Wroxham. I was wondering if there's any attractions, pubs/restaurants with play areas to visit with a 6yr old boy and a dog maybe in Aylsham or at any stops between Wroxham and Aylsham (if any)?
It would be nice to spend some time somewhere and have a look around before heading back to Wroxham.
Any suggestions?

Nothing much in Aylsham apart from the workshop and the cafe. Nothing at all en route to Wroxham, but on a nice day, Wroxham is a pleasant waterside location.

yes please are you able to take a mobility buggy on the train and can you get from the train to Wroxham broards and board the Mississippi paddle steamer
Skrevet 17. juni 2018
As both the respondents have said a mobility scooter is not a problem at all on the train. All we would say is that if it is one of the larger types then you must be able to manouver it yourself. If you know the day you are travelling we will happily reserve space in one of the carriages which accommodate wheelchairs and mobility scooters, otherwise they are very much a first come first served, but with priority always given to wheelchair and scooter users. The combined train and boat ticket operates with the boat operator in Wroxham, although we do also work with the Mississippi Boat at Horning. If you especially wish to use them, we would happily organise a taxi to Horning at your cost. Pre booking this is strongly advised as taxis in Wroxham are limited. At the railway stations the entire site is step free including access to the train and from the car parks.

Hi ScottieDo,
Dogs are very welcome on the train and in all areas of the railway except in the café. If the weather is wet we do offer an indoor area where dogs are welcome and food can be served. We do make a charge for dogs of £3.50 for a return journey. Assistance dogs are free of charge. Best wishes Andrew Bure Valley Railway

Going on Santa train tomorrow. Is there time to get food at Aylsham, should we take our own or can we buy some on the train?
Going at lunchtime so no time to eat beforehand & will definitely need food if the journey is an hour each way.
Advice please.
Skrevet 16. desember 2017
no sadly cannot buy food on train.

Could could my family group travel one way from Wroxham BY TRAIN and the return journey by boat?
Skrevet 15. august 2016
Thanks very much for the enquiry. This is just to confirm that it is not possible to travel from Wroxham to Aylsham by Boat as the river is no longer navigable for the entire route. It is possible to take the train from Aylsham to Wroxham, do a boat trip for an our an a half out and back from Wroxham and then catch the train back to Aylsham. I hope this helps.

Shall be visiting on aug 8th for the train & boat trip with a coach party. I am a little concerned about the walk from wroxham station to the boat as we are both in our eighties and car'nt waik too far . Any suggestions.
Skrevet 21. juli 2016
Thanks for your enquiry. You may also wish to check with your coach operator. Most coach parties are met at Wroxham by their coach and taken from our station to the boat yard, where the coach stays for the duration of the sailing. If you find this is not the case with your coach party, please do let us know and we would be happy to book at taxi for you. This normally costs around £3 - £4.

I believe you can join with a trip from Wroxham and I would like to give this combined trip as a gift. Can I do so ?
Skrevet 15. mars 2015
Dear David,
The railway dos have a terminal station at Wroxham and it is possible to combine a trip on the railway with a 1 1/2 hour cruise on the Norfolk Broads. The timings will depend upon when you wish to travel. We do offer gift vouchers which can be used for any product or services offered by the railway including the train and boat trip. We do recommend advance booking at busy periods for the train and boat trip, no booking is required for just the train. Please do feel free to call us to discuss your specific requirements. Many thanks for your enquiry.
