The bird life is rather incredible at Menar Lake. We spotted flamingos, pelicans ,grey headed marsh hens and an Egyptian vulture amongst other water fowl. If you want to see incredible bird sightings this is the place.
Sadly like most nature spots in the country, litter abounds and human influence is evident.
Take a picnic and your binoculars. You can easily walk around this lake within 45 mins to an hour and best to go early morning.

Definitely worth stopping by if you like birds. It's half an hour away from the airport, so an easy place to visit if you have some time before a flight out, or are taking the road from Jaipur/Chittorgarh to Udaipur, or Udaipur to Jaipur/Chittorgarh.
There are several groups of flamingos, as well as pelicans, anhingas, cormorants, terns, kingfishers, bee eaters, and several others. No tourists here, just a pretty countryside. There is a road that follows the edge of the lake all the way around, takes ~2 hours to walk. Bring binoculars!

Stayed at Rajmahal Bhindar, 15 km away from menar, visited early morning to watch migratory birds at Menar. It was a very good experience.
binoculars & zoom lenses are must.
Doesn't have facility of a boat.

Menar Lake is the place for nature and bird sighting. Many migrating bird can be seen in winter season here. Greater Flamingo / Pelican / sandpiper/ lapwing / Brahmani ducks / marsh harrier / Purpel Heron / Black kite/ plover / stilt/ Bar headed Ducks/ indan saras/ Indian roller/ kingfisher / spoon bills / stroks / Booted Eagle/
Shovler/ and many more. This lake is full of birdsin winters.
A must place to visit especially for bird watchers and nature lovers.
Take a set of binocular/ camera/ some snacks / tea coffee with you.
Menar Lake 49 km from Udaipur on NH 76 towards Magalwar.
This place is on way from Udaipur to any of these places .Chittor / Kota / Indore / Bhilwara / Ajmer / Jaipur / Neemach /Mandsore/ Ratlam / Bhopal . whenever you are traveling on this route it will be hardly 3 kms detour.
The best season is from November to mid march.
Forest department organize a bird fair here since past few years in December .
When you are traveling from Udaipur towards Magalwar after aprox 23 km From the airport you have to turn right . You can see a board “Menar “. You travel another 3 km on this single road and you are there. Here there are two lakes first one is smaller and it is adjacent to the menar village. You will see a big State of lord Shiva .on the opposite side of the lake.The car can go very close to the lake and you may park it almost inside the Dry area of the lake.
Going further ahead on the Road you will cross the village and village school and come to the second lake , which is much bigger and quite. You can park the car almost 10 meters from the lake.
In Feb middle you will see white poppy fields on way , they look like the Tulip farming of Holland.
