This museum has now closed. Its artefacts are being relocated to the Alfred Gillet Trust which is based at The Grange behind Clarks Village retail outlet, which at the moment is also closed but will reopen in April 2020

The museum has shut with the collection being moved elsewhere. We only found this out on arriving at the museum as the website did not indicate anything

We visited the shoe museum while at Clarke’s Village. There was lots of shoes and clothes to try on for the boys (3 and 18months) and some craft to do but not a lot else for that age group. But it was very interesting and we could have spent longer there if there had been more for the kids. We were only there for about half an hour but it was free so fair play it was worth doing!

Certainly a different place to see, shows the shows trends over time and also how feet have become bigger!

We took our three grandchildren aged 8, 7 and 3 to Clarks Shoe Museum and what a successful afternoon was had by one and all.
As well as providing an opportunity for the children to try on shoes from across the world, there was a fabulous dressing up area and an Egyptian themed craft desk. As a family we were warmly welcomed and the children given activity sheets. Although the museum is small it is comprehensive and well displayed. We could hear many people saying, "gosh do you remember wearing those shoes".
It really is an amazing museum and it's free.

Full of interesting items about the local shoe industry. Activities for children!
I must admit to being prejudiced as I am a local!

Lovely little museum that traces the history of not just Clarks but of shoes in general.

What I found interesting is that while the styles and fabrics used in the uppers have changed through the ages, the soles and heels have not changed that much.

It’s a nicely put together collection that is reader friendly. Covers 2 floors and you could easily go around it all in 15 minutes, and it’s free. They don’t really have a ‘shop’ but there’s a few things on sale on the ground floor to commemorate your visit.

You could easily order your food in the pub and whiz around here before your lunch gets served! Have fun!

Great history of Clarks shoes through time. Worth a visit if in Street but wouldn't make a long trip to visit as quite small. We went on one day and it was closed due to ill staff but went back a few days later as we were in the area. Free museum. Only minor thing is that the exhibits don't look like they have been cleaned in quite a while and some shoes are actually disintegrating!

Visited the shoe museum on Wednesday, what a lovely place, the history of Clarks shoe through the ages. Was a great way to reminisce about childhood and shoes through the years. The museum is over 2 floors but there is a lift which is brilliant for anyone who has mobility issues. The staff are so helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Great place to visit.
There is also interaction for the children which makes for a very interesting and enjoyable visit for them too.
There is no charge for entry, but donations are welcome. There is also a small shop with limited goodies.
