Entry is $15 per person and National Park passes are not valid here. It‘s just a beach and you may see dolphins when they feed them in the morning. I woudn‘t do it again, just not worth it.

Don’t be fooled into thinking this is the place to see lots of wildlife. It is a resort, charging an entry fee, and whilst there is wildlife to see quite a lot of it is scripted. The dolphin feeding may float your boat but surely better to watch them in a more natural way. However, that said, once the feeding was over, it is worth scanning the deeper water as dolphins do cruise by. Also loggerhead turtles and sting rays.

We had a lovely afternoon in Monkey Mia. We were too late for the Dolphin feeding, but no matter, we knew that before we arrived and they were still visible in the shallows swimming along the shore and under the pontoon.
There is a lovely walk along the coast and through the dunes, well worth doing. The contrast between the red sand dunes, the white coral beach sand and the blue waters is quite something to see.
Very disappointed by the pricing though. Every National Park charges you by the car, here they charge you per person and it is not cheap. I found it very disappointing that they can't wait to get the money out of you and then they just leave you to it. We had to ask them about the dunes walk, you'd think if they are going to fleece you for so much money that they'd at least tell you how to get some value out of it.

Unfortunately the restrictions make it a really lame experience. Everyone is herded like schoolchildren to sit on a boardwalk until you are allowed to approach the beach. The highly regulated environment meant that one dolphin was thrown 3 fish by volunteer helpers while about a hundred onlookers tried to take photos. An hour of waiting for a few minutes. Underwhelming.

The dolphin Experience at Monkey Mia was a big disappointment: after driving hundreds of km and 1 night stay, my wife and I were disappointed to see feeding 1 dolphin, with only 3 fish. We also saw another dolphin but it was not fed. This is not an exception. See my photo on dolphin feedings on other days. Such practice by Monkey Mia’s dolphin management obviously resulted in very few dolphins for visitors to see.
Unlike when we visit Monkey Mia in 1991, nowadays visitors are not allowed to feed dolphins and nowadays pelicans are also not fed.
Australia’s Minister for Trade and Tourism should see that there is better balance between wildlife management and tourism by having tourism staff work with wildlife staff at popular tourist destinations. Nowadays it is all one-sided.
Unlike when we visit Monkey Mia in 1991, nowadays visitors are not allowed to feed dolphins and nowadays pelicans are also not fed.

So wonderful to see the dolphins being prioritised here. The experience is tightly regulated and the dolphins dictate the proceedings. The dolphins will not do circus tricks and you won't be able to touch, swim with or feed the dolphins. Sometimes they might not even show up. This is how it has to be for the dolphins protection. Can you imagine the boofhead free-for-all if it wasn't this way? We absolutely loved it. Dolphins in their natural habitat, doing what they do, being expertly cared for. A beautiful beach, lovely resort and gorgeous dolphins.

Had a non-powered campsite, and was high on amenities, excellent service, but also overlit, overcrowded & closer to a glamp (we felt scruffy putting our gear out haha). On the plus, great bar n the restaurant was 5 star. The dolphin ‘show’ was fairly awful - so hyped, so much info n those dolphins just wanted a feed because that’s a lot easier. But great place to have a fine meal, do some kayaking or SUP, use laundry, hang on the beach & all around is stunning landscape.

Of course it is amazing to see dolphins so close by but overall I thought it was a disappointment. I was looking forward for so long to go to Monkey Mia, but it felt like a big tourist trap. Staff is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. But I kept the feeling that it was not about wild dolphins, but that they got released somewhere. The emus walking on the beach was actually more fun and I am really fond of dolphins. I think indeed it is better to get there in the afternoon and hope that there will be some dolphins swim by.

An absolute rort. RIP OFF in capitals. My worst experience of my trip so far and the most expensive by the minute. Money grab for Parks and Wildlife and a very lucrative one too. I hate feeling ripped off and I do. My wife would not let me ask for a refund otherwise I definitely would have. Save your money and just go up the jetty in the afternoon when it is quiet and you will possibly see more.

This underwhelming “attraction” feels like a money grab. You pay your entry fee (even if you’re staying at the attached resort - and it’s not a national park so national park passes aren’t valid) and watch a few volunteers give a few fish to a few dolphins. The viewing is crowded and awkward, and it’s all just kind of dull. Give this one a miss, even the kids looked bored

Beside watching dolphin, what other activities (both free & paid) are there to do in the resort that worth us to drive 9+ hours from Perth?

Kayaking - we have our own but you can hire them. We saw sharks, turtles, rays & fish.
Sailing boat tour - takes you to see dugongs.
Resort has pools, mini golf, bars & restaurant.
See emus roam free through the park.
National park close by is worth the trip if you have a 4wd.
Ocean park Aquariam was worth the visit. Lots of marine animals to see & learn about.

As the others say in the Morning , 3 chances starting at 0745 but dependant on if the dolphins are going to come in, they feed them approx 1/3 of their daily requirement , if you dont want to stand on the beach at the waters edge , you will not be allowed in the water whilst the dolphins are there, then go stand on the jetty at the side , you get good views and still hear the rangers talk

We are looking for a tour from Perth and return ,-- maybe 4-5 days... but cannot find one in July 2017. Is there a regular bus ? Or train ? Thanks for any advice.... other than renting a car ....

In Perth city, there is public bus service and train service (google transperth) to travel nearby area.
But if you plan to visit pinnacle dessert or Busselton plus you have 4/5 days spend in Perth, it's best for you to rent a car/ join the tour.
Unless, you have time to study the bus/train line.

Touching the Dolphins at Monkey Mia is against the law, fines apply, This got put into place around 15 years ago when it was learnt that we can transmit diseases to each other and also when they started biting people on a regular basis when people were touching. The best way to enjoy the dolphins at monkey mia is by staying nice and still when you see them, either by watching from the beach if they are fishing in the shallows or from staying still in the water if they are nearby to enjoy them being around.
