I visited the tunnels as part of a DMZ tour. The tunnels have been maintained in their original form and are easily accessible for most visitors. We walked through a lot of the tunnels so it was easy to what life would have been like. The tunnels come out the beach which is quite impressive. There are also bomb craters, tunnels and air vents at the complex.

Definitely worth to see in Quang Tri to understand more about the will of people there during Vietnam War.I like how deep it is to the ground and used by the whole village to hide from the bomb instead. The coastline was lovely also, sadly the day i went i didn't have enough time for seeing it longer

Untouristy area but definitely worth seeing. It is a very intense and authentic experience that allows you to better understand what happened during the Vietnam War. A system of claustrophobic tunnels where the population took refuge to escape American bombing. The museum allows you to better understand the history of this place through a series of photographic documents.

We visited section 3 to 5. It's a must visit. It allows you to see or rather imagine the conditions of life underground in tunnels dug in the clay.

Must visit for the story of Vietnamese people's creativity and resilience in the face of American attempt at domination and aggression.

As a concept, it was fascinating - this is after all where the Vietnamese people lived for 6 years during the war, in tunnels that they dug by hand going down up to 30m deep. There are many kilometres of tunnels and multiple entrances but if you are more than 160cm tall, this is a very uncomfortable experience as you will spend the whole time hunched over or bumping your head. It is very poorly lit, the floors are uneven and slippery and there is minimal signage. A ‘guide’ turned up half way through and declared himself a guide but gave us no more insights than ‘toilet’, ‘kitchen’ and ‘bomb shelter’.
Not for the faint hearted and it felt much more directed at the local VN people rather than foreign tourists, perhaps not unsurprisingly.

Man kan godt forestille sig de rædsler de mennesker der har boet i området har levet under og med. Fascinerende at de har været i brug i så mange og og vigtigheden af deres formål. Skal besøges hvis man er i området.

I'm sorry to hear that the tunnel system is only capable of serving 2/3 because there is a tunnel that is too deep and not safe enough to visit. So I tried to make use of the remaining space of the tunnel. Vinh Moc Tunnels are not just tunnels. Besides the tunnel with a beautiful coastline stretching, I was very impressed when one of the tunnels of Vinh Moc tunnel led to the sea. Highly recommend you to visit there.
Because it is a tunnel deep underground, next to the sea, wet conditions will easily occur and will be dripped or flooded when it rains. Should choose to go on a sunny day to ensure dry. Bamboo on both sides of the path is very cool, so choosing to go on a sunny day will be even more wonderful when you can walk under the trees.

Really interesting place. The fortitude and resilience of the people that built and lived in the tunnel complex is impressive. The teenage kids found it very interesting. And I think it gave them a great perspective on why the Vietnamese won the war against the Americans. The on-site guide was very good and the 1hr tour was very worthwhile. Be aware the tunnels are made of clay so can be a bit slippery and unless you are the size of a normal Vietnamese person expect to have to bend down a lot.

Excellent visit with Annam Tours. Hardly believable that so many Vietnamese lived down in these tunnels for so long. All aspects of life were provided for.

Hi there. Just wanted to know for people that have been to both, which you thought were better, Cu Chi or Vinh Moc Tunnels? I've been to Cu Chi last year and will be travelling down from Dong Hoi to Hoi An this year. Just wondering if it's worth stopping? Many Thanks to anyone who responds
Skrevet 2. januar 2019
Worth seeing both. Vin Moch is a smaller system than Cu Chi. Cu Chi were military tunnels, Vinh Moc were civilian tunnels although it was later on used to assist the military efforts.

Can you hire a guide when there to take you in the tunnels if so how much
Skrevet 27. mai 2018
Yes you can hire a guide when you get there . In fact you can’t go down with out a guide . Cost was 50,000 dong pp , that’s about 1 pound 53 pence . And parking costs 33 pence ( 10,000 Dong ) . Well worth the effort to get there.

Is there any way to get to Phong nha from Hue that allows for a stop at the vinh moc tunnels along the way? Besides a private car which is a little to expensive for our budget. The only bus I found that makes this stop through VM Travel no longer runs. We would like to avoid doing a day trip to the tunnels which would mean having to come back to Hue before taking a separate bus to Phong nha and wastes time traveling. We've spent most of today looking for a way to do this and would seriously appreciate any help! Thank you

Sorry, I too had a private car and made a day trip from hue. It is a long way so I understand that you don’t want to backtrack. Sorry I can’t help.
