Love the petroglyphs but tragic that part of it was bulldozed for a highway. Graffiti looks so much better when it is a few hundred years old!

Small, EXCELLENT museum and movie. Heartbreaking true story of uncovering Indian villages but "having" (no, no, no) to bulldoze and level them, and build a highway over them . Some artifacts were found and saved. It's shameful how America does NOT value preserving their heritage like other countries, but would rather knock down and build over for progress, thereby obliterating important things forever.

The gift shop is half the size of the museum! Lots of great selections of baskets, jewelry, T-shirts of course, ice cream. Something for everyone.

So many trails and hikes to take! Unfortunately our group got there when it was super hot. We will come back in the Fall or Spring.

A lot of beautiful hikes (and most are short)! And a lot of cool pictographs and petroglyphs, too! Only drawback is that part of the Centennial Trail is on the side of the road, but not that bad.

It has a very nice museum, but it is pretty small. The paved trail right outside the vc/museum gets you pretty close to several panels of petroglyphs. The park itself is very beautiful and full of stunning rock formations. I was a bit disappointed with a lot of the trails because they didn't get you close enough to actually see the petroglyphs and they didn't want you to hike off the trail. For example, the Newspaper Rock pullout is just a pullout with an information sign. There are no binoculars and the petroglyph panel is too far away to even see the designs. Same with the "Indian Blanket." No binoculars and it is so far away that it looks like a speck. I suppose the most important thing to bring is a pair of binoculars if you plan on hiking the trails with intent to see the petroglyphs.

I have stopped at the Museum before. But this time we camped overnight and took the time to do the hikes and other stops outside of the museum. I was very impressed. There is more to this little place than you think. The museum was created after builders of I-70 dug into a prehistoric Fremont Indian village. There are some wonderful artifacts in the museum and a good explanation of the people who lived here. The village was on a hilltop above clear creek.

Up and down on the cliffs above the creek are found some wonderful petroglyphs and pictographs. It took us a little over an hour to do a quick overview of them before the sun went down. I would plan an hour for the museum and two hours to do all the hikes/petroglyphs.

We stayed at the Castle Rock Campground. This is a small campground in a scenic canyon sided by towering cliffs of sedimentary and volcanic columns. It was so peaceful and quiet and really an old-fashioned kind of campground. We slept to the music of the small stream flowing nearby.

Visited the park on an overnight camping trip. The park was beautiful, clean and a safe place to visit. Thank you to the staff for your help with my little tire issue in the parking lot. I could not have fixed it without you help!

What a nice stop! The film and museum were informative, the gift shop had some unique finds. Staff was helpful and we enjoyed walking around to see the petroglyphs and pictographs.

We had a really great time. All the hikes, Indian artifacts, the visitors center, the drive to Fish lake, fishing the rivers, and perfect weather. The campground was really nice.

Some 20+ years ago, my wife and I visited this location while we were touring UT. Fast forward to 2019 and we brought our two sons here on the way to Colorado. It's something of a hidden gem along highway 70. If you have the time, definitely make the stop. It's well worth a visit.

The museum visitor's center is well stocked with exhibits and a movie theater (and, of course, a gift shop). The rangers are very helpful with hiking suggestions, which is great since it felt like it was 100F outside. The hiking around the visitor's center will get you a good look at a lot of the petroglyphs and if you have the time, there are a lot of additional trails and exhibits. You could spend a good portion of the day here.

As we were heading to Grand Junction, CO, we contented ourselves with the area immediately around the visitor's center before getting back into the air conditioned car. One recommendation if you're there during summer like we were: Bring lots of water to dink.

Overall, this is a great museum and park.
