Our visit to the beautiful Trinity church at Old Bewick in Northumberland today was absolutely magical.
This is a very old small church which is very well cared for and so delightful inside. There is such a wonderful feeling of tranquility and peace within its walls and is away from all the hustle and bustle of our lives today.
It has a great history and is very worth a visit to enjoy and regain a calmness we all need at the moment.
Not too difficult to find.

What an absolutely lovely little church. It's isolated location just adds to the tranquility of a visit here. The building has some really nice architectural features and is neat, tidy and well maintained. It has a really nice little churchyard, which made for a pleasant autumnal setting for my visit. Very glad I happened to spot this place on the map, a really welcome find. I thoroughly recommend a visit.

I love this church , I was married here in July 1995 and both my children were christened here,
My grandparents are also buried here along with other close family members.
I feel this is my family church

This is way off the road up a narrow lane - but worth the journey. The services are infrequent and 1662 prayer book. There is a great history here. Look inside the strange hut by the gate and be very surprised!

This must be one of the most special churches in Britain: at the end of a country lane, in the middle of nowhere, a beautiful Norman church, where the silence is almost audible. To judge from the visitors’ book, people come here from all over the world; and a big Thank-you is due to those who maintain the building and trustfully leave it open to us all.

If you are interested in the architecture of churches this is well worth a visit. Above all this is a very spiritual, peaceful place for the worship of God.
Very pleased to discover that the chapel is not an ancient relic but still has a living church community.

I have entered this church on several occasions as I live fairly near by and never cease to be amazed by its historic beauty and peaceful atmosphere. It exudes a sense of tranquility and awe. Situated in a remote rural setting, it is surrounded by trees and tradition Northumberland stone. It was built in the 12th century but restorations occurred in the 13th and 14th centuries and in later years. The apse is truly wonderful. One can see Norman and Anglo-Saxon contributions and as a whole it is an absolutely fascinating historic rural place of worship. It is most definitely finding and seeing if you are in vicinity of Alnwick, Chatton, Chillingham or thereabouts.

Free car park outside a key benefit as we only stayed a few minutes due to a weekday mass in progress. Best to check times before your visit, though detailed history info boards in entrance made the visit worthwhile

We found this church quite by accident as we travelled from Chillingham to Alnwick. We saw the old Celtic cross at the end of the road and decided to explore. Off we went down the old dirt road and there in the distance was a lovely gated entrance with an old church. It was somewhat magical. The first time we were there was in 2013 so when we came back to England in 2016 we took our cousins travelling with us to see it as her maiden name was on one of the tomb stones and not a name you see often and connected with the Masons. The first time we went in 2013, we were unable to go in the church but this time it was open and we got to go in and make an offering to help look after the church. It certainly is like walking into the past, so quiet, so remote and so full of history. If only those walls could talk.....The churchyard this visit seemed somewhat unsettling, unlike the previous visit. It was very spiritual and we will go back next time.

After a good walk to Blawearie and the Harehope burn from Old Bewick we decided to visit the church and it was well worth the visit.
The church has a long and interesting history as explained in the leaflet which was available inside the church. With no one else around the place had a strong spiritual feel which I find may large cathedrals lack. If you are in the area it is well worth a visit.
