Litter everywhere, why cannot people put their litter in the bins provided? Some of the litter was dropped within a short walk from the bins, and plastic bottles dropped by the lake which will end up in the lake together with the discarded fishing line. Disgraceful!
Also, dogs running everywhere not on leads, intimidating other dog owners who have their dogs on leads.
Stay at home or go some where, where it is quieter. We wont be going there again, it was a nightmare, we were glad to go.

Langold Country Park is my local country park and I'm so glad for it. It has a rich history dating back two hundred years beginning with it's construction amongst the woodland still surrounding it in the 1750s. Ralph Knight (of Langold Hall) is the man responsible for design of the landscape, but alterations by his grandson in 1818 saw the original series of lakes made into just two interconnecting lakes. Seventy years later, a weir with a beautiful single arch bridge and a boathouse were built and both are still standing today (though the boathouse is out of action). In a massive aesthetic turnaround, the area around the lake was developed for coal mining in the 1920s. Luckily for the locals the Firbeck Colliery Company purchased the land in 1927 and, as a perk for its miners, made the lakes and it's surrounding land into a recreational park with fishing as it's main activity. Later on, with the help of the National Coal Board, more perks were offered: a swimming pool (now torn down) and a bandstand (repaired in 2012). When the mine closed in 1968, the park was taken oven by the local council who added a playground and catering facilities.
Personally, what I like most about this country park is that it's actually surrounded by countryside. No matter which direction look in there's either woodland or fields. There are so many different walks around the area you could do, not just around the lake. Today though I walked around the lake with my parents, sister, and young nephew. There were plenty of fishermen, dog walkers, and families feeding the ducks. It was beautiful weather and a good (if rather short) walk around the lake finished with an ice cream.

This is a pleasant walk round a lake which is teeming with bird life. And as a bonus, if you have children or grandchildren, there is an excellent playground.

First time we've taken our 2 small dogs to langold really good place to walk dogs apart from all the dog dirt. There are plenty of bins so why don't dog owners pick up also we felt very intimidated as there were a lot of big dogs not on leads just running all over the place. What a shame don't think we'll be going again

Beautiful walk around a lake, plenty of water birds, swans, water hens, various variety of ducks. There is a play area for the children along with a fountain area, at the side of this fountain area is a cafe, selling teas & coffee, sandwiches and various sandwiches. There is a large area for car parking.

No matter which season we are in, a walk around the lake and through the woods is always wonderful.
With a choice of two cafes ,a kids play area and FREE parking ( take note other parks!)
it always makes in to a lovely day.

I’ve never been here before but was looking for a different place to walk my dogs. Had a look online and saw there were coloured walks for short, medium and long. Just follow the correct coloured markers. Set off on the long walk from the car park. Some of the markers were so dirty I couldn’t see what colour they were. Ended up totally lost as the markers disappeared. Spotted some people across a field and followed them. Ended up at the lake. Dogs thoroughly enjoyed themselves as did I. Definitely coming again. Shame some people don’t clear up after their dogs. Plenty of bins round the lake for rubbish. Plenty of children in the children’s play area. Toilets were locked up, but it is winter. Didn’t go in the cafe but may do next time.

Took our grandchildren aged 5 and 9. It was a cool day but we all soon warmed pushing the boys on the zip wire, the swings and playing football.
Lots of families there enjoying the facilities but only a few brave children went into the water play area. We had taken our own food but the cafe there does cook food and sell drinks and ice creams. They make a good cup of tea despite it being served in paper cups.
This place has lots of parking and play areas as well as a lovely lake to walk around. Lots to do for children of all ages and adults who just enjoy a stroll by themselves.
It’s not the easiest place to find but is well worth a visit. The facilities are first class and well maintained.

Hi. Does anyone know the distant of the purple route around the lake (the longest one)
Mick S

I do not know exactly but.....
The distance round the lake itself is almost exactly 1 mile
So I guess the purple route to be about 3 miles.
I do a slightly different route from the cafe car park ,just off the A60,
following the tarmac section for about300mtr then state the right and head towards the electric substation, then take a right and follow the path downhill crossing the stream on the footbridge, then left up to the kids play park then around the lake and back, about 2.5 miles. A steady stroll with the dog off lead can take us anywhere between 1 and 2hrs depending upon what we see or what the dog gets up to. I'm 72 ,its an easy walk

Is it wheelchair friendly
Rach198232
Worksop, UK51 bidrag
Yes it is wheelchair and pushchair friendly, the paths are maintained but just be aware this is a country park so the further round the lake you get the path goes under trees , and can be a little slippy. But it's a lovely walk round and there's a lower gradient slope for wheelchairs to get up to the lake,
