One of the worst experiences of our stay.
We arrive the night before at our hotel (The RiverHouse). There we talk to our host about the idea of going swimming with the dugongs. Having just said that, she contacts the center to integrate us into the next day’s excursion, explaining that it is incredible. We listen to his advice.
Departure at 6:15 am from the hotel, where we reach the center. There, we board a boat with another snorkeler, and we are explained that we will go to take 6 divers on the road. 1 hour drive later, first break of at least 20 minutes to take them with their equipment. Then we sail again 1 hour, until we pay the head taxes. Another 30 minutes by boat to the site to swim with the dugongs. There, we are told that there are too many people and that we will return at the end of the day. First stop on the island in front, multiple preparations of various. We snorkel with a local guide. So far no problem, except that at no time are we warned that some of the jellyfish we swim with are box jellyfish, whose sting is fatal. After 30 minutes of snorkeling, we get back on the boat, and still lose a long time to recover the various. Then, pause, and then second stop for divers, where we are allowed to go into the water by snorkeling. Rebel right after. Finally, we arrive at the site of the dugongs around 3pm. There, the Coast Guard announces that they have left for the moment. Our guide gives us safety instructions (do not jump in the water, do not go in groups of more than 4 around the dugong, do not scare them with the boat engine etc, do not pursue the dugong). They also explain that there are only two dugongs in this bay, both dominant males, that do not cross.
At one point, after a long wait, the dugong reappears, and there it rushes: the only other boat remaining in the bay pursues it, its occupants jump into the water, everyone, our boat included, agitates and pursues this famous dugong. Our guide tells us to get ready, the divers get equipped, he tells us to go to water at the same time (finally which of their rules?). Half the people come down, they tell us stop because the dugong is gone. There were jellyfish everywhere, the guide grimacing telling us to be careful. We are at this moment very far from the beach for snorkelers, we are not comfortable. The dugong has always disappeared.
Finally, after more than an hour of scanning the bay and chasing the dugong with each appearance (with our big boat), abandon. The return takes us again 2h30, divers return home before sunset.
We snorkel back to the centre as it gets dark. We share our results with the manager, who blames us: We are absolutely lucky to have been able to be integrated at the last minute, they are normally sold out. We remind him that it was our host (whose hotel is next door and who probably takes a commission in his pocket) who insisted.
The balance: boat from 6:15 in the morning until 7 pm, with 30 minutes of snorkeling among the jellyfish boxes, and to top it all off, no dugong. We made it clear to the manager that nature does what it wants, and that it was not guaranteed to swim with the dugong, and that we are not angry for that.
To top it all off: a guy takes us back by boat in total darkness in the mangroves, our hotel is 15 minutes away. No lights on his boat and... he broke down. Terrifying moment, the driver was not comfortable either. We were in the middle of the bay, without any light and without any network. He then manages to turn on the engine and brings us back. We had been informed of a return at 4PM and we returned at 7.30pm, not allowing us to eat and ruining our plans the next day. And 70 euros pp for that/ Thank you.

It is a special experience to dive with Dugongs and DDC delivered! It was amazing to get up close with the majestic creatures and despite some rough seas and poor visibility, we were able to track down the elusive dugong, which was truly memorable. Be advised that your day will start very early - 6:15 at the pier (and it is a one hour drive from Coron) and we only returned to the pier at 5:30 PM - and you will only get 15-20 minutes with the dugongs themselves. You then have two reef dives after, which are pretty good. They don;t provide lunch, but they also don;t provide you with anything but water (no fruit or anything else) so it is a very long day indeed if you don;t come prepared....

Booked a dugong dive trip with this centre which was great. I was staying in Coron so needed to get an early taxi up to Northern Busuanga which the centre supported with. Organising the trip was easy with Dirk via email/whatsapp. Boat was very comfortable and the crew/divemasters helpful. Seeing a dugong was a cool experience and felt comfortable that it wasn’t stressed by the divers with all the proper rules in place. Would dive again with this centre.

The Dugong Dive Center is exceptionally reliable. As a beginner diver, having just received my Open Water Dive certification a week prior, I wasn't fully confident, but the owner, Dirk, was incredibly reassuring. The dive on the house reef of El Rio Y Mar was truly enjoyable.
The following day, I joined the shared Dugong watching trip. Although I only went snorkeling instead of diving, it was still an amazing experience. The staff are dedicated to taking great care of you.
Will be back to try the Apo dive trip and other offers. Thank you DDC team!

We had an extraordinary day with this very professional diving group.
They offer both snorkelling and diving with Dugongs
While not guaranteed , there is a very very good chance that you will be with a Dugong on these tours. We chose to scuba which allows you to be With The Dugong closely observing his feeding and surfacing. However, the snorkels were equally excited and having a great time and a close encounter with an incredibly huge beautiful creature as he was in only 3 m of water.
Don’t miss this chance to see a Dugong and snorkel the other Reefs in this area. We had five days in Coron Town and this experience of the Dugong complimented and topped off a fabulous six days
don’t miss staying at The River house which is incredibly affordable but at the same time the rooms, service and food are a high standard

Wonderful experience with them! It is expensive for sure compared to other dive centers in Coron Town but you pay for what you get. Their trip is well organized, dive masters cares about my safety and tried their best finding interesting marine life for us, their boat is one of the nicest I’ve seen - both short trip boat and long trip boat have on-board toilets and the latter one has 2nd floor mattress and nets to take naps.
I also like that the company and crew are very protective of the ocean, both coral and animals. They were the first to find those two friendly dugongs 10 years ago and since then have kept respectful interaction with them.
There was some miscommunication at the beginning, I came without knowing that the Dugong Park is closed due to holiday but the crew spent over an hour to find another two wild Dugongs at Dimakya Island - although they swam by super fast I’m still thrilled! Apo Reef is def the highlight, if you’re willing to take 6-7 hours boat ride roundtrip. They’re the only dive center in Coron that goes there.
I recommend them to everyone who’s not on budget and I already came back to dive with them for the Dugong Park again.
Cons: Besides the cost, you also need to bring your own towel and lunch box from your accommodation.

not sure if we are consider lucky or not lucky... we did meet the resident Dugong Aban in aban-aban, but due to the visibility, the other dugong friends did not make the visit. We are happy with Aban. Be prepared with the roller coaster dive with Aban, my buddy fell into sick after swim with Aban.
we stopped at another reef slope + sandy bottom dive sites, the visibility were perfect, i would sald above 15M or more. Paradise for micro.
I must said good experience to dive with Dugong dive center.
The only down site is a little bit pricey (well communicated in advanced, so not a surprise for us) and it appears that the dive crew well taken care by the operator (thumb up for that)
Apart from that i would strongly suggest to stay nearby. Took us 1+ hours (1 way) and quite a bit of cost to rent the van from Coron to the jetty.

What a great adventure! Yes, the journey is a bit long, yes, you have to wait your turn so as not to disturb this amazing animal, but the experience is great and these little inconveniences quickly disappear when you spend the minutes with the Dugong. The center is efficient, very friendly team, great welcome and the guides are very caring. You absolutely must do this activity when you come to BUSUANGA; I have 40 years of diving all over the world and these are the most beautiful underwater landscapes I have ever seen (while snorkelling!!); Bravo to the Dugong Dive Center, a must for all sea and nature lovers.

Perfect day trip to visit the Dugongs!
My partner and I dived with them which was incredible as we got to see them up close.
The staff were very professional, passionate and showed genuine care for this engaged animal.
The communication was very efficient when booking the trip as we were visiting from coron town.
On the day there was the option to do 3 dives, or some snorkelling. We snorkelled over a reef and saw a baby turtle. Very beautiful.
Highly recommend this experience and this company if you care for animals and want a nice day out.

A very good diving Club for North Coron
I made 16 dives with this dive club. Really professional and friendly staff overlooked by Dirk, who is running very smoothly the dive club and really taking care of the divers. The equipment (bcd, fins, masks, tanks) are in pristine conditions. They organized early morning pick ups for me as I was first staying at the river house hotel. I was brought to Dimakia Island, the Rock (for nudibranchs lovers), the boat and the plane wrecks and also for dugong dugong watching. Always nice. I highly recommend this dive club. Special thanks to the dive masters Brian, Lando and Mike that are very well trained and let you live a unique underwater experience. Even the house reef in front of the Rio el y mar resort is worth for day and night dives. A really five star dive center. A must if you are in Coron Palawan Philippines. They are affiliated with SDI/TDI
