It was a great experience. You drive to idnanre town from akure, about 45 minutes drive. At the base of the hills is the office where you pay 1000 naira and get a guide. Our guide John+234 806 260 6089 was excellent
We ascended the 680 steps to the beginning of the hill and from there we came to the old tourist lodge. The view is heavenly.
Then the trek begins on the plateau to the village and palace. Words cannot describe the peace and nature of the trail
On the whole it's a 2 hour climb and hike

Живописные холмы в Нигерии. Люди здесь жили еще в древности, но западная цивилизация пришла сюда в 1894. В 2007г это песто было добавлено в Предварительный список Всемирного наследия Юнеско.

Idanre hills is a destination of my heart. I have been there countless times , yet, I never get tired of going back there. It is one of the destinations that puts together, historical, cultural, traditional and physical hiking experience . Imagine a mountain with about 682 steps and five resting points . On the hills of Idanre lies a whole community which used to be the settlement region for the ancient people of Idanre, you’ll find a school which happens to be the first school in Idanre (St Paul’s Pry SCH) , you’ll find a court, you’ll find a palace, you’ll find streams alongside many others. Idanre hills is easy to navigate, and you’ll find hotels that meet your standard around. Then most importantly, it’s a safe community, but visitors are always advised not to stay out late.

Good view and great work of nature. Only God formed those hills. The Area only tells story of the ancient times.

For our visit to Idanre we had slept in akure the night before and made it a day trip . The drive heading up to Idanre already revealed how breathtaking and beautiful the landscape is. There is a tourist center at the base where you purchase your tickets. Tickets were at a 1000 per person and you give whatever you agree with your tourguide as an appreciation for the tour.
With the help of our tour guide Richard we made it up the 682 steps to the peak. When accessing the great steps that lead to the peak you will come across five resting and viewpoints.
On the top you can explore the following the old court at Odeja since 1906, Oshokogbe stone site used for the Apon festival back in the days, Omi Apaara the thunder stream, Igboore primary school from 1896, the tourist charlets from 1954, Omi Arun, Ancient palace and courtyard, Chief Lorin house, Asurin quarters and the wonderful rock.
In total we spent three hours exploring idanre without long breaks so if you wanted long breaks you may need more time

Idanre Hill is a beautiful hill with 682 steps from the ground. It’s not an easy climb, but it’s totally worth the Journey.
There are about 5 huts on the way up the hill.
But only the first is properly set up and has a bar with music blaring.
After the steps, you basically maneuver your way to the top. A mostly flat bed.
From the top you can see the entire Idanre town.
The tour guide told me Idanre means ‘It is a Miracle’.
I was breathless by the time I reached the third hut and thereafter, got my groove on. There were kids on an excursion too; that’s a regular sight during holidays. There’s a small settlement on the other side of the hill, no longer inhabited but has a story.
You can go with a bottle of water in hand.
The guides are friendly and the place is very safe. I would go there again and again.

I enjoyed the sight seeing and hill climbing. The taste of the delicacies served at idanre was yummy. I had issues with their services and hotels cos it was kinda poor. Good place to be anyways
