WORST HOLIDAY EVER!!!
My young son has gone through a tough time over several months and deserved a break away to relax and lift his spirits. What better holiday than relaxing close to nature in a ‘popular family friendly resort’.
WRONG!! By no fault of ours we had to move bags in and out of cabins 3 times over 4 days which began when we arrived early evening to find the cabin hadn’t been cleaned at all. We were greeted by the stench of human waste which was evident from the unflushed toilet. used towels in the bottom of the showers etc. The annoying thing was that once we moved to another cabin we didn’t know whether we had to move again or not which wasn’t relaxing, then after two days told we needed to move again. I have chronic back pain from an injury and lugging bags back and forth did not do me any favours.
The food and bar staff complained about having to multitask because they were so understaffed when it took a good 15 minutes just get a coffee and no one waiting in line. The housekeeping staff complained about the understaffing. This might account for the cockroaches in the ‘clean cabin’ as well.
Before leaving this ‘resort from hell” we found a used, soiled baby nappy just at the foot of the bed. I have written twice to the manager with my grievance asking for a reply but to no avail.
Given the pandemic, I would assume that the utmost efforts to maintain a clean environment would be made, but this resort was a disgrace. The cabins are filthy, the staff ‘mimic’ empathy, quality of food less than average. My son and I, were more stressed at this place than had we stayed home. It was a waste of money… waste of time… and wouldn’t recommend it. If I could give one tenth of a star rating it would be too generous.
Oh….on a different note. the grounds and beach are lovely. Definitely recommend the beach.

Just loved our stay at Depot Beach Camping ground which is located in the Murramarang National Park.
The campsites are large with a fire ring. You can buy bags of wood from the office. Bird life in the park is amazing. Just love the Lyrebirds running around the camp. We used the gas Bbqs a couple of times and there is even a pizza oven. The showers have 4 minutes of hot water for a $1 coin, which was plenty of time.
There is a great rainforest walk which comes out at the beautiful beach. There is also a set of stairs which you can take down to the beach if you want to walk, swim or fish.
We also drive to Pebbly Beach and the most beautiful Pretty Beach further up the coast.
We had a wonderful relaxing time with our friends and will definitely be going back.

We drove along the North Head road trying to find the lookout, after a number of kms on a rough dirt road we finally reached a North Head sign.No luck in finding the 300m "well formed track" that is referred to on the web site.

Having last been in the region pre the fires in Nov 19 it was still pretty raw to see the results but also pleasing to see the wildlife are still apparent. The bush is fairly sparse but regrowth underway. I love my NP's and suggest you take up a yearly pass which will pay for itself in quick time. Especially now we are in Oz for the foreseeable future! The highlight is the beaches to visit & swim at your leisure. Heading south from Kioloa you have Merry Beach, Pretty Beach & Pebbly Beach to enjoy and explore. You can base yourself at Bawley Point or several Caravan Parks or camping areas and visit all at your leisure, a great spot(s) on the NSW south coast.

This is an extensive national park with a couple of different entry points. One near East Lynne, the other at Benandarah, both off the Pacific Highway. The national park coastline is pretty rugged throughout. The bushfire damage was extensive but there are great signs of recovery and rebirth. Some parts of park infrastructure also took a hit. We took several trails within the park, Pebbly Beach to Snake Bay walking track and started out on the Honeysuckle Beach walking track. While we enjoyed both areas, signage was very poor and we turned back when the path to Honeysuckle became difficult to make out. Suggest put off for another 12 months unless totally familiar with the area.

I camped at Depot Beach Campground with my two young boys (8 and 10). We very much enjoyed it and wished we had stayed longer! There are over 50 tent/camper sites below and dozens of cabins up top.

We had site #30 which didn't have it's own designated campfire. There was a communal campfire that we shared with a couple other campsites. A lot of sites do have their own campfire rings, cooking fires or larger communal campfires. It really is random as to which ones have a campfire or which ones do not. I recommend calling the the ranger office to ask if you must have one. Portable braziers are allowed though, (wish I'd known that!).

We stayed just before the Oct long weekend which was packed. I think also due to the fact that Pebbly Beach Campground was destroyed in the fires earlier this year coupled with Covid19, no one can travel overseas, so everyone and their uncle is camping.

The septic system stinks a bit... maybe from further away it wouldn't smell so bad. I love how it is only 2 mins walk from the ocean which you can hear roaring 24/7. It is so loud and a huge bonus to this site. Also, loved the massive majestic tall Eucalypts and the thousands of birds that wake you up at 6am. It's gorgeous.

We booked a cabin at depot beach campground and the place was stunning with all the amenities at the site. The place is still recovering from bushfire of 2019. The mornings were sublime and if lucky you could be having breakfast with the kangaroos in the vicinity

Due to the 2019 bush fires road access was closed to this iconic beach but after discussion with National Parks officer in Depot Beach we were able to walk along the rock platform over the pebbles from Depot beach end. Be sure to check the tides so you don't get cut off. We were the only ones on pebbly beach and there were no kangaroos in sight. The best part of the walk was walking on all the pebbles.

Thoroughly enjoyed a day trip, albeit short visit to Pebbly Beach. Stunning area to spend a day or a weekend to relax and enjoy nature, very scenic. Forest to beach absolutely tranquil, enjoyed a walk along the beach, lots of shells and rocks and stunning rock cliffs.

Your experience begins on the Mount Agony Rd - a beautiful and winding road with giant gums hugging the sides. Watch for glimpses of vibrant blue ocean as you approach the roads end. We visited depot beach and walked along the shore and out to the rocky headland. Truly stunning landscape. The surf was absolutely hammering the beach. We then headed down to Durras north - kangaroos and wallabies everywhere! There is a beautiful inlet behind the surf beach that heads into lake Durras- this would be a beautiful and safe paddling spot in warmer weather.
