Due to the fact that I only had six days in Jeju, I decided to do various scenic sections of the different Olle Trails.
Olle Trail 5
We took bus 201 and stopped at Dongbu Health Centre and began walking the scenic Namwon Keuneong Coastal Trail starting from Kumho Resort. It was a short (about 1.5 km), easy and shady trail with many spectacular views of the white waves crashing on the black volcanic rocky cliffs. There is toilet facilities along the way.
Olle Trail 6
I only had time for the city stretch namely the Lee Jung Seop Street back to Olle Main Head Office. Our hotel is only a few doors away and this location is very convenient.
Olle Trail 7
After viewing Oedolgae Rock, we walked the very scenic coastal trail with the seaview on the left and beautiful houses on the right. There are some steps along this stretch. I had a very pleasant surprise when I reached the pretty cafe 60beans with its scenic, peaceful outdoor seatings too. The interior of the cafe is also beautifully decorated, very ideal for a coffee break. This walk is extremely beautiful and I exited from the Olle Trail 7 here by walking about 15 mins to the bus stop at main road to take bus 201 back to Seogwipo city. etc,
Olle Trail 8
We only walked a small section starting from Jusangjeolli Cliff to the park after it.
Olle Trail 10
Another one of my favourite is the walk around the perimeter of Songaksan Mountain.
I saw several islands such as the flat Gapado. Also fascinating to see the many caves hidden among the cliff side of the mountain. There is also a field meadow with 2 horses grazing. Another section has lots of pine trees. There are some steps involved here. Fortunately it is a circular route and I could take my lunch at the many cafes near to carpark. There are toilet facilities at the start and end of the trail. I took a taxi here as the bus does not travel here frequently.
Olle Trail 15B
I walked the easy seaside coastal trail from Gwakji beach to Aewol to have lunch at Nolman and coffee at Bomnal. There are many black volcanic rock formations to see along this trail.
Olle Trail 17
I started the walk at the Iho Tewoo Beach with its red and white horse lighthouses. Continuing on the coast, I could see many locals relaxing in their tents and food and games having great family bonding time. I finally too bus 445 to go to Dongmun market. Pleasantly surprised that this bus passes by the coastal Jeju Olle route such as the Dobu-dong Rainbow coastal trail.
Olle Trail 18
I only had time to do a small section by the Sanji stream next to Dongmun market.
Hayoung Olle Trail 1
The Hayoung Olle Trails are three walking paths in downtown Seogwipo. “Hayoung” is the Jeju language word for abundance. I walked the section from Cheonyiyeon waterfall to Saeyeongyo Bridge followed by Saeseom Islet. This is also an excellent walk as the short route around the island is very scenic.

We finished the route #10 (17.5KM) in about 5 hours (we walked pretty slowly and took a lot of pictures). The whole experience was unforgettable. The magnificent view of the ocean on the left and mountain on the right was amazing. I thought it would be hard since I'm not that much used to walking for long hours but it didn't feel exhausting at all. Every sight was so gorgeous that I just didn't want to leave. I felt very fresh and relaxed after the walk. Even the tiredness after it was finished was worth all of those pretty shots I took and the healing. STRONGLY RECOMMEND!

Thanks to Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) and Jeju Olle walking Festival, we got an opportunity to participate in the Jeju Olle Walking festival 2020 despite there was a limitation on the number of the participant due to spread of Covid-19. This year, the festival is held in a new and unique way with the slogan “Walk Apart, Finish Together”. All participants have to register online in advance; only up to 15 participants accepted for each of 23 routes for 23 days. Also, all the participants were given Clean Kit set that includes face masks, sanitizers, and others needed for personal hygiene.
Since we had just one day to participate in the walking festival, Route 10 was chosen for our team. Route 10 start from Hwasun Golden sand beach, then passes through major touristic attractions Sanbangsan Mountain, Yongmeori Coast, Songaksan Mountain, Altteureu Airfield, Victims Memorials, and finally Hamo beach which is close to the endpoint. The total distance is 15.6 km with a maximum elevation of around 60 m.
The walking experience in this route was amazing. We pass various landscapes, from beaches to forest, coastal walk to mountain hiking, and finally to radish and potato farms at Altteureu Airfield site. The various volcanic and sedimentary rock structures at Sanbangsan Mountain foothills and Yongmeori Coast were amazingly gorgeous. Walking along the perimeter of volcanic mountain Songaksan was a unique experience. The cliffs of the mountain close to sea were spectacular and walking along the top of those cliffs was just amusing.
This type of walking, I think, gives the opportunity to explore the hidden natural beauty of Jeju Island and its traditional cultures which we could miss if visited by other means. Thus, the Jeju Olle Trails is highly recommended for those who love hiking or walking and want to explore hidden natural beauties while enjoying local customs and local foods. I, personally, wish to complete all the Olle walking trails and get the certificate of completion from the organizer.

I saw one picture in instagram and decided to go Jeju olle train route 8. Actually, Route 8 is restricted, but you will see everyone just walk into. It is called 'Gaetkkak Columnar Jointing (갯깍주상절리대)'
It is better to wear comfortable shoes since you have to walk on rocks, but you better dress nice if you want to have a good picture. I saw many girls dressed up and walked on the rocks which looked extremely tiring but worth it.
You might need to line up to take a photo, and I also waited to take a photo at specific spot. Now I have really cool pictures ;)

Hi, I plan to go for trail 6 on April 2020. Do you know if where should I park my car? How long it takes to finish trail 6? Is the weather windy? Thank you.

Which air port is closer to jeju Island or how can I get there..?
If I plan to drive around Jeju, what is the most practical way to get on the Olle trails?

Most of the Olle trails are close to the coast so if you find a place to park the car it will be pretty close from where you can start from. the only thing is most of the trails would take about 4 hours and don't go in loops so you will have to either walk back to your car or take a bus back to where you started. If you do that then I'd recommend buying a T-Money card to use on the Bus. You can buy them at the airport or 7/11s

Hi, my friend and I are going to Jeju in March and plan to do the olle trails. Instead of moving from one accomodation to another everyday, which are the routes that allow us to combine like 2 to 3 routes but staying put in one accommodation.

For Olle Festival, one route per day, when start to walk before 9 am, able to arrive the lunch place before noon and finish the route before 4-5 pm. For solo walk, basically, you can stop your journey at anytime, i used to take a cup of coffee first and design to ho ahead or turn out to some other attractive place. eg On Udo Island so far i did not complete the route there but enjoyed more on their beaches.

Hello Jim,
I am thinking of walking the entire Jeju Olle Trail in 2018. I live in Canada, close to the Jeju Olle Friendship Trail that is part of the Bruce Trail.
To do the entire 200k, how much time would you suggest I allow? I hike quickly but am there to smell the roses, not race the course.
What time of year would you suggest it is best to hike it? I would prefer drier, warmer conditions but would also like to avoid the big tourist rush if there is one.
Is it necessary to book the accommodations you mention above in advance?
I look forward to your responses.
Nicola

Hello, It's 425km not 200km.. It will take 17~20 days depends on condition. :)
I would recommed you to walk Middle of March to Middle of May or Middle of September to End of October.
Hope it is helpful for you.

Hi, I am looking at spending probably a week walking the trails at the end of March. I realise it will still be cold and I'm OK with that. I was wondering if its easy to just walk in to the pensions and get a bed for the night? I don't really want to have to keep getting buses to and fro from accomodation and would like to just walk, stay, walk on stay somewhere else the next night. Is that possible do you think??

Hi Jenny, this is Jim from Jeju Olle Trail up here on Jeju Island. I got an alert about your question.
Yes, it is possible to walk, stay, walk, stay on the trail. These days almost all routes have accommodation near to the start/end point of a route. However, the signs on buildings indicating that it is indeed accommodation is not always apparent to the foreign walker. Especially due to the language barrier.
What routes are you thinking about doing while here?
And finally I'm going to push you towards jejuolletrailguide-net. This our official English language site that includes a free guidebook to download in English (newly updated).
You can also find our office contact information on the site. You can find my contact information too.
So I'll leave you with that and if you need more help I'm only a message away.
Regards,
Jim Saunders
