Scrapers is in a beautiful excellent location, easy to get anywhere needed. Anything we needed we just asked for and Raneesha (sp) was able to get for us. As well any questions we had we were able to get quick answers for. They have a shop there with lots of basics as well as some lovely very well priced souvenirs. The garden in front of the room gave us shade and privacy to sit, and is beautiful. The room is basic yes, the kitchen had everything we needed for cooking brunches and we chose to have suppers out. Everything was very clean. The value is really excellent! I would stay again in a heartbeat. The view across the road is breath taking. Grocery store is less than a minute walk and amazingly well stocked. Our stay was very peaceful. Make sure to visit Off The Hook on paradise beach too. Curtis there took us to Saline Island to swim with turtles, and snorkeling on White Island. Unfortunately it was too rough the day we planned to go to Tobago Cays to swim with turtles but do consider it. Overall a wonderful stay.

When we arrived we were first shown rooms that were dark, dingy and in poor decoration. The fridge & oven should be thrown out, rust everywhere. The second room appeared better-more light, fridge & oven respectable.First problem.:-water heated by individual electric heaters incorporated in shower head, this one did not work unless you fiddled with it. Not a good idea when you´re stnading in water! So no showerfor us. When I looked at the crockery I was totally disgusted! Cracked and not clean. So we purchased some bleach, new mugs & a frying pan, at least we could have tea something for breakfast. In the morning we found the shower room/toilet floor deep in water. We called the owners re both problems, which guess what they new about-they said they would fix. We wanted out, but they asked us to see yet another "cottage". Again kitchme seemed Ok, bedroom fine, hot water worked, toilet under duress, ut hubby new how to fix, so we stayed. The fans in the kitchen and bedroom did not work!! The A/C did, The TV didn´t, but hey we were on holiday. I moved our "stuff" plus all the clean crockery etc, watched by an eagle eyed owner! To make matters even worse, evry time we went out, one of them went in., and no we never left the A/C on, living in Spain we know the costs! This we found totally unacceptable. Location is OK, opposite a small beach where all the dinghy´s moor from the numerous yachts that are in the cove. Parking good, outside. Would I recommend...NEVER

Whilst on our two week trip to Grenada my girlfriend and I fancied a trip to the Island of Carriacou (which if you like relaxation we would thoroughly recommend). Finding somewhere to stay on the Island using the internet is limited and as we wanted to get beyond the capital of Hilsborough. We decided we would journey south by bus and stay at Tyrell bay. We tried to book online (by leaving emails) for Scrapers Bayview Cottages but as we didn't get any response we phoned from Grenada. It was only when we arrived that we found out why we hadn't had any joy from emails. The place is wonderfully untouched by technology. It is a really relaxing place to be and as soon as you realise that you are on holiday to chill - not to get stressed about things that really don't matter, life becomes wonderful. We walked to there from Paradise Beach (the beach is beautiful and it took approx half hour to walk to Tyrell Bay). Scrapers Bayview cottages are on the left as you walk into the centre of the bay. I don't know why but I expected them to be much larger (there are two small cottages adjacent to the shop where the owners live). On arrival we found a very sweet girl holding the fort. She called for her mum who speaks in a wonderfully rich caribbean voice which is quite musical. She is a lovely woman and you quickly realise (if you haven't already on arrival on Carriacou) that life here is stress free and easy. The whole Island just relaxes you and makes you realise how stupidly fast we live in the UK. This is real Caribbean living as it's supposed to be; Un-fussed, friendly, slow and refreshing. The cottage we had cost $60US and I should point out that we tried firstly to pay by credit card (before we were told that the card machine hadn't worked for some time) and then by EC (Grenadan currency). Things became quite farcical as they clearly hadn't had anyone paying with anything other than dollars and no-one knew quite how much they should charge. The thing about this place is that nothing seems to matter and it's quite fun if you can relax and stop your modernistic urges to get stressed and worked up. We eventually agreed on a rate and everyone was happy. The cottage was perfect for what we wanted and there was even a kitchen to cook in if you felt that way inclined. With a few excellent local restaurants in Tyrell Bay I would strongly recommend exploring what they have to offer rather than cook in doors. We walked right to the end of the bay and ate in the Lazy Turtle which was lovely (good food). We walked by all the other restaurants in Tyrell Bay and they all looked very welcoming and enticing in their own way. The bedroom was perfectly comfortable (the bed particularly so). The shower was cool (and the integral electrical heater dodgy) but as the air was warm it didn't seem to matter. You are free to come and go as you please and we enjoyed our stay. Tyrell Bay is a nice place to Chill, like the rest of the Island, it is an easy and friendly place to be where people genuinely seem happy to see you. The busss come right down to Tyrell Bay so you can hop on anytime you want to see another part of the Island. Definitely make the time to come to Carriacou and explore as much of it as you can - it's beautiful and very relaxing. It even makes Grenada look rushed.

These little cottages are right on the harbor of beautiful Tyrell Bay in Carriacou. The beach is literally across the street. There are many nice little eateries, barbecue, stores, and produce stands in short walking distance. There are several dive shops as well. The beds are foam mattresses - 1 queen, 1 single. There was a tv and air conditioner in the room and screens on the windows but we did have mosquitoes. We had an eat in kitchen with stove and full size fridge, limited pots and utensils. But we were able to cook everything we wanted. The price is quite reasonable. Iris and her husband were very nice and accommodating. And the people of Tyrell Bay were friendly and welcoming.
