We have stayed for 3 nights during new year eve. Very convenient for families and the dinner was just amazing. The cook also made a great vegan dishes for us. I have been to many youth hostel but never got such a great dinner. In short, if you are there do not eat dinner elsewhere. You get a lot value for your money. We also liked the Pforzheim itself. Very nice. I hope we will come back to this place soon.
Stayed here for 1 nights. Upon arrival you had to get up 2 floors to get to the reception. The elevator was not for guests, only when I asked about this at check-in the girl turned it on for guests. Check-in was quick. I had the room to myself so that was great. Luckily there was slats under the mattress. Pillow was thin, the same as the Jugendherberge Stuttgart Neckarpark. The lockers in the rooms were unusable. You either had to have a key or there was just a hole with no lock and no place for your own padlock. The shower and toilet are in the same area, but the toilet is in a small cubicle which can be locked. There's no lock on the bathroom door, so when you're showering, anybody can walk in. The shower cabin has a tiny entrance. If you're not super skinny, you have to squeeze through the doors which slide open one way. This urgently needs to be fixed. Wifi is slow with 2mpbs. At check-out there was nobody there. You just leave your key in a box. Breakfast was really good, enough choices with muffin-like pastries. Location of this place is really nice, if you're on the right side of the castle, your view is the river and mountains.…
The Landesjugendorchester Baden-Württemberg frequents this Jugendherberge during its concert tours two times in a year. It's very clean and cozy and provides breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Beautiful views of the hills from some of the rooms and the dining areas. Access to the city of Pforzheim and trails within a fine walking distance. Free wifi. Be sure to bring your own hand soap and towels though, because these are not provided! Also, the number of young people sometimes increases the noise in the mornings and the evenings, so come prepared! :)
