we stayed in the houseboat and believe me during our kashmir trip we were most comfortable staying in this houseboat.food was delicious as it was home made and rooms were comfortable to sleep and owner and helper was very nice and co-operative
I visited Srinagar in December 2012 and had booked this house boat. Believe me the experience was more terrible. Soon I entered the house boat he told in a commanding voice to take off our footwear and he "educated" us that it is not a culture. In fact I didn't know that I had to take my foot wears and strongly believe at the minimum there could have been a more polite language. I booked for 3 days and all the foods were outrageously priced. There was no hot water and upon multiple requests we were given half bucket of warm water and that's of no use in the winters of Srinagar. Also, the place doesn't seem to be safe as it was much away from the main area of Dal lake and the amount charged is not at all a worth it. So, I think it would definitely be wise to avoid this place.
