This is a quaint lodge with 4-5 guest rooms. The interior is a bit of a maze but you will have fun exploring the breakfast area, book/game shelves, and the restaurant. Menu includes mostly bar food except on Taco Tuesday. Restaurant is super convenient but closes on Sunday/Monday and there aren’t many other food options close by. I appreciated the public restrooms when half of our party had gone to sleep for the night. Full sizes washer and and dryers available for a small fee. This place wasn’t fancy but it was very clean and a nice location for accessing Denali.
The customer service was phenomenal, Cindy went out out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed. I would definitely stay here again, and would highly recommend the lodge to anyone visiting the area. The beds were comfortable, the food was good, staff was friendly, and the beer was cold, what else can you ask for!
Great little stay for our family. Cynthia was very accommodating and even let us use her home grill to cook our Elk steaks! Kids played Jenga and had sodas at the grill while adults kicked back. Great location off the beaten path and away from all the people. Not a 4 star resort but a 4 star experience.
We arrived during COVID times and just before the start of the summer season. The room was spacious, the water hot and it has the only bar between Healy and Talkeetna. There is free Wi-Fi for those travelers who have no phone service. We met Cynthia King the manager and Michelle, her assistant who both regaled us with stories of the lodge’s history. The bar was closed but it seems pretty awesome for the location. The Alaska railroad passes by the lodge and we awoke in the early dawn to the lonesome wail of the train as it went by.
New rooms are absolutely amazing! Beds are extremely comfortable, bathroom is nice, and there are plenty of outlets in convenient places to charge all of your devices. My family and I stayed in the room with 1 King and 1 Twin bed, the king side of the room had a small closet, and a Roku tv (plus I'm sure a dresser or 2 that I'm forgetting). The twin side of the room had an area with a microwave, mini fridge, and coffee maker. There was also a dresser in the room. I really like the placement of the bedside lamp, with a built in area to rest your phone, book, etc. at night. I really wish we had taken pictures because the rooms are extremely nice. There is a bar/lounge located on the other side of the lodge so you can grab a drink or a bite to eat. If you drive down the Denali Highway, it's a great place for camping/hunting. If you drive North on the Parks Highway for about 20ish minutes you'll come to the entrance to Denali National Park, totally recommend checking it out in the Summer, very beautiful and lots of wildlife. If you continue North about 10 more minutes there are lots of gift shops, restaurants, a liquor store, etc. Very nice place. I don't know what's open due to the Coronavirus, it seemed like some places were closed but there were some places open. The Alaska Railroad does run through (about 200 feet away from the lodge is the railroad tracks) usually very often in the summer, so if you're a light sleeper I could see that being an issue but for me, I don't mind the train so I'm still giving them 5 stars as it's not really anything the lodge management can do about it.…
