If we could give 10 of 10 stars, we definitely would in this case! The hostel is very near to the main places in the City, but still we did not hear the traffic at night at all - was very quiet, what a blessing. The hostel, the rooms and the beds were very very clean and you will definitely feel at home. There was a kitchen we could use (also always clean) and a great garden place to sit outside. I never had to shower with cold water, it was warm every single time. The breakfest is included in the price and is very good and diverse, very much recommend to eat your breakfest there :) Also its possible that you get your clothes washed for fair prices in the hostel. In general I find the prices in the Hostel Ruta alterna are more than fair if I compare them to the rest of the hostels we have been to! Carlos is very friendly and helped us with all kind of wishes. He even took us to Cumbemayo with his Car and we could take his Bikes (witch you can rent at the hostel) and drive all the way back from Cumbemayo to Cajamarca. Great view, very much recomend to do this. Also Carlos does tours with guests so dont hesitate to ask him about his recommandations and all the options arround or the options he offers (there are a lot). Also his mother was arround the house some time and thaught us things about the Inkaculture and the common festivals in Peru. Very interesting even though our spanish is not that good she stayed patiently with us. We even stayed 3 Days longer than we usualy planed to stay, also because we felt so welcoming at ruta alterna that we werent in a hury at all. We can very much recommend this place to couples, families, or people traveling alone or in groups. A place for backpackers and travellers with higher standards. If we come to Cajamarca again we would defintily go to this hostel again! Gracias Carlos! …

J'ai séjourné 2 nuits dans cette super petite auberge familiale dans un dortoir mixte de 4 lits. L'auberge est un peu excentrée mais la plaza de armas se rejoint tout de même facilement en une quinzaine de minutes à pied. Tout est très propre. Le dortoir est très agréable : assez grand et avec des grands casiers pour mettre ses affaires. La salle de bain aussi est bien, assez grande et avec de l'eau chaude. Une serviette de toilette est même fournie. Les espaces communs sont également très agréables. Il y a une petite cuisine assez fonctionnelle, un petit salon, une terrasse couverte avec hamac et une cour extérieure couverte où il fait bon prendre son petit-déjeuner. De plus, le gérant Carlos et sa maman sont adorables et m'ont très bien accueillie !! Le petit-déjeuner est bon, avec notamment un jus de fruits frais. Et le Wi-Fi fonctionne très bien. Je recommande très fortement de séjourner dans cette auberge !!!…

...by booking your stay in Routa Alterna Hostel. It's just what you're looking for in this town. The Owner is super friendly and happy to help you with everything - be it good places to have dinner, travel destinations, how to get around the city.. and knows probably every market shack there is. He also offers bike tours and even several-day-trips to further destinations with tents etc. The hostel itself is clean, cozy, colorful and offers good places to chill and hangout like hammoks, a terrace and a TV corner. Fast Wifi, a fully equipped kitchen and the included breakfast is good as well. The location is close to the things you wanna do in Cajamarca and still quiet. Couldn't think of a better place here. Last but not least, theres Matthias the Hosteldog and friend of every visitor - don't miss meeting him:)…

Es una casita tranquila a unas cuadras del mercado y a 15 minutos a pie de la plaza de armas. La zona es muy tranquila y el ambiente es familiar. Veganizaron el desayuno y la verdad es que estaba excelente. La mermelada casera buenísima. Fueron todos muy amables y la atención fue de 10.

This has been our first stay in Ruta Alterna, but it definitely won't be the last one. Our host has done everything at his power to make us feel welcomed. The place is clean, comfortable and offers great breakfast. You can also ask for tours and such. Lovely stay!
