We spent 5 days here in August and just 6 days now in September. We lucked in getting a site we enjoy. The road in is in rough shape, go slow! As well, the road is still washed away at the very end of the loop. Great fishing once again. The septic toilets and garbage are serviced weekly at a minimum. Their website is kept up-to-date as to information of it being open/closed. Be aware that Moraine is closing Sep 22.
This is very clean and quiet campground to stay. It’s very close to Yosemite National Park and it’s nice to stay for couple of days to enjoy the nature. The river is so clean that you can swim and get some water to drink and use for cooking. I would say this place is amazing and very safe to stay overnight.
When it's open that is. As Moraine is an overflow campground you can't count on it always being available. But when it is it's a great place to be. Where can you camp with a stream directly behind you, neighbours shielded by bushes and (most times at least) minimum mosquitoes? All of the snow this year means that Moraine might be under water but keep your fingers crossed, that's all I can advise. Even if you can't camp it is still a great place to walk around, to just enjoy nature.
