There should be a negative sign in front of my overall rating. This wretched dump earns a "Negative 1" star rating. I cannot say enough about how absolutely awful this place is. I should have known better when I saw there was no locking door on the exterior building entrance to the guest rooms, just a tangle of wires where there was once a key card reader. But it was late, I had been driving all day, my head grew heavy and my sight grew dim, so I had to stop for the night. The elevator was totally unsafe and after one trip to the third floor, I felt that I was on the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror as the bottom dropped out from under me. I never got on the thing again. We were in the room for a total of 3 minutes before my son cut his foot open on a razor sharp metal piece adjoining the carpet to the tile. After bandaging up his foot, I carried him into the hallway and stepped across the filthy carpet that was loosely covering the uneven rotting floor boards. We carried our bags down the stairway, which reeked of mold and had plaster falling from the ceiling. I went immediately to the front desk and told the person at the desk that the hotel was completely unsafe and that we would not be staying here. She assured me that my card would not be charged and I drove on to Durango where we slept at a La Quinta that had a family of raccoons in the front trash can, yet seemed like the Taj Mahal in comparison. Fast forward two weeks when I find a charge on my card for this revolting scum pit. I called them and spoke with the same person who was on staff that night. She explained that they couldn't find anything sharp on the floor and so they charged my card. That just figures; they have no problem putting their guests in harm's way, so why would they have scruples with charging someone's card who was injured due to their negligence and didn't even stay longer than 20 minutes? It is abhorrent to think that they are allowing guests to stay here. It is completely unsafe and this place is a disgrace to the Best Western name.…
While the Room is newly renovated in clean it's poorly insulated and very noisy. We were not told when we made reservations that the pool's closed for renovations so we find the hotel somewhat expensive for few services.
More negatives than positives. Con: Bath/shower had no cold water I.e. temp was either very hot or almost scalding; hair dryer kept shorting the circuit breaker; breakfast was spartan; holes in blacktop and landscaping. Pro: room was large; bed comfortable; tv had Hallmark channel; staff was courteous and helpful.
We were a little concerned from the appearance of the exterior, but the room was very clean and super comfortable. We were on the lake side and it was a comfortable nights sleep for sure. The room was great after a long day of traveling and we woke up to a pretty lake view.
We booked this hotel for one night as we were passing through. The room had just been renovated and was beautiful with a picturesque view of the lake. The room was all new but the halls still smelled old...you know that smell. The young lady behind the desk was new and had a little trouble due to inexperience. She made up for that with her personality and polite ways. There truly are no amenities here, not even coffee in your room. In fact the elevators stopped working while we were packing our bags down to the car. I have to admire the fact that someone is trying to restore an old hotel rather than demolish a standing building. I hope this one isn't a lost cause.
