One of the nicest things my wife and I notice about the best B&Bs that we book is that wonderful places to stay using have wonderful couples running them. The Hoovers are a darling couple that we would adopt as grandparents if possible. The warmth in these innkeepers conveys an excitement and they almost seemed to gush: "Hooray - company's here!" Loved the dragonfly room and recommend it as it has two ways to enter the suite. One of the great things about the facility may also be a detractor depending on the point of view. The Wren's Nest is a standalone structure, the owners have their own adorable cottage nearby. Guests have complete access to the kitchen, sitting areas, and common space in the building. If you are comfortable with having family, friends, etc book both rooms, then you get use of the entire building too. It's a great set-up. But it could be awkward if you do not know the other folks who rented the same day as you did. We had the place to ourselves - so that was perfect. Breakfast was very tasty and diverse ... unique in some aspects. I would have gladly accepted seconds. Again, loved the Hoovers - great folks and great hospitality. The property is made for hiking and exploration, but remember some bug spray and some pants if you do. Our only regret is that we only stayed one night. We would stay here again, no doubt!…
Travelled here for the solar eclipse. Judith and Tom were the most gracious and accommodating hosts. The grounds, our room(s) and the entire experience were wonderful...almost defying description. I truly hope to return soon for another delightful sojourn.
We were looking for a B&B a little of the beaten path that would put us "in tune" with the Kentucky countryside and people... and Wren's Best was that place. Judith and Tom were great of course, and the property was very clean and well-maintained... not easy to do on 100 acres! Woods and lake in the summer were awesome, but to mention the dark skies and fireflies at night. Morning thunderstorm, local bbq, and county fair were all huge bonuses, and made for a post-card perfect trip to the area. We couldn't have scripted it better!
Judith and Tom Hoover are exceptional innkeepers! We felt "right at home" when we first arrived until we (reluctantly) had to leave the next morning. We enjoyed beautiful scenery, fascinating conversation, interesting walks, friendly animals and very delicious food, too. We stayed in The Dragonfly Room; it's perfect! The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom well-equipped. We can't WAIT to go back!
