My wife, our pup, and I spent the past weekend at the Basin Campground. It was a great place to chill out and disconnect. Right at the entrance of the campground is the gorgeous Basin Pond. The night we arrived the dark skies were littered with countless stars, and during our second evening we were treated to a wonderful, colorful sunset. The family acting as the campground caretakers during our stay were super friendly and on top of everything around the campground. They were running a top notch little patch of wilderness. All of the sites were spacious yet just private enough to not feel like you were crowded in the woods. There are plenty of trails for all abilities in the area to explore as well, making this a great home base for a weekend of hiking. I highly recommend this campground!…
Great wilderness experience. We stayed in the basin camp ground. It's a primal camp ground. The swimming on the basin pond is a great relaxing experience. The banks are full of leeches. But few feet into the pond, they'll disappear. The night sky was magical and filled with the milky way.
We stayed at the Basin Campground for 1 night, but will definitely be going back. It's nothing fancy, but the sites were clean and roomy with a picnic table and fire pit with movable grates. There are no showers, but the bathrooms were clean and convenient. We reserved our site online and paid a $9 reservation fee, which I think might have been a bit unnecessary since we went midweek and there were quite a few empty sites. It was quiet and we could soak in nature :) We wouldn't have had time, but I did wonder if it was possible to swim in the basin (fishing and canoeing were mentioned, but now swimming). Some of the sites have a few stairs, something to keep in mind if you have little ones running around :)
