Cabins are super clean and comfortable! (Our screened porch had a leaky roof but other than that it was great). Boat harbor is really nice, better than a lot of places we have stayed up north. Rented a boat and it was really more than we expected. Super boats!!! The people here are extremely friendly and helpful!!!! Really enjoyed our visit. Weather didn’t cooperate much, but we did catch enough fish to make it fun. Everything you need/want in a Leech Lake resort. We are coming back next year!
We traveled here in July 2018 and stayed in cabin 3, which was ideal for a small family: 1 bedroom for parents, 1 bedroom for the baby, and a loft for the 2 older kids (ages 3 and 6). We rented a pontoon which was essential for good fishing with little kids, so they had room to run around a little. We caught lots of little perch and some pike. Our ability to find the best fishing spots was a little limited by the kids' tolerance for hanging out on the boat. The beach is wonderful for kids. I love that they have a pool, although it's shaded in the afternoon so it was never really super warm to swim; I think the lake was warmer. This place was a bit of an upgrade for us from previous fishing vacations- nice updated cabin (with a nice shower and tub), fully stocked with everything, even a waffle maker, nice screened in porch, really, everything we wanted. The kids activities were also fun and make it stick in our minds and want to go back: afternoon of free hot dogs and ice cream sundaes, morning of free fresh homemade doughnuts, turtle races, piñata, etc. There's a very close paved bike path that we walked to but turned back because of mosquitoes; mosquitoes weren't a problem around the cabins, though. They must spray for them or something. We took a daytrip to the Mississippi headwaters, and also spent a day shopping in Walker, where there is Reeds, a big outdoors store similar to one of the chains like Cabela's, gift shops, some places to eat, and a farmer's market the day we went. There is NOT a nearby chain store like Wal-Mart, so if you forget something, you'll have to go to the local grocery store or pharmacy. The negatives were that it is a small family run place, so there were quirks you wouldn't expect from a bigger place, like they closed early on the day we arrived so there was no way to check in, so we just moved into our unlocked cabin and checked in the next morning, and the locks on the cabins were faulty (they gave us the wrong key first, and it took some finagling but we got the locks to work, because it just seems weird to leave our stuff unlocked in this day and age), but this was a well run, very fun, beautiful resort, with great fishing, and we definitely will be going back. Oh, and the wi-fi worked. That can be kind of important for some!…
Wonderful people, great atmosphere. What a great place for the family to enjoy the outdoors. Lots of things to do and enjoy both at the resort and near by. Hiking, Biking, Boating, Fishing, Campfires all around great place with lots of friendly folks all around. We will return again and again
This is a great spot! The prices drop after Labor Day and the weather is spectacular and the fishing is great! There is nothing fancy about this place but it is clean, comfortable and in the best location on the lake for fishing. It is 10 minutes from civilization and everyone is friendly.
We rented cabin #5 on the lake during Labor Day weekend. They had a last summer hurrah on Saturday that was a lot of fun. Adults and kids a like had a good time. It' a very family friendly resort. We have other family members who stay there all summer.
