Tl;dr Owners are rude and unwelcoming with poor hosting skills and less than desirable amenities, but pool was nice. When you arrive, the office is locked with a sign to call a number. Chances are they either don't answer the phone, or you don't have cell service. Then, since it's connected to 'The Lodge,' guests assume it's an extension of the office and try to enter through there, resulting in our family's cabin stay being repeatedly interrupted by lost strangers. When we asked to tour 'The Lodge,' we were led through a messy hall via the storefront rather than through the front door, and the AC wasn't yet set up-an hour after check in, mind you, smelling like mold. The toilet and outside patio were not cleaned and required to be brought to owner's attention to attend to. As we were making our payment for our stay, suddenly there was an added $80 charge-children were now being included in the pricing although it was made clear to us on the phone during reservation that children under a certain age were exempt. This was rectified with much reluctance. When we asked if there was anything we should know about the stove or oven, response was "It's a stove and an oven." When in fact, it would have been very useful to know that one of the burners did not function, and neither did the stove fan. What's more, above the stove and counter is a steel guard for the fan with sharp corners that failed to have guards/protectors on the edges. The fire extinguisher is expired (May 2018) There was a mouse! Multiple calls were made to owners that were never returned. There is a broken electric outlet upstairs with a piece of metal jammed in it. The grill was rusting off and barely balancing on the stand. Surprisingly the pool was nice and clean throughout our stay.

Our family booked 3 cabins in advance to stay in Tightwad. Upon arrival we went to the cabins and the overwhelming smell of some kind of air freshener, I'm assuming to disguise the damp molded smell in the old cabins, was so strong you could smell it outside when approaching the cabin. We went in and could not even stay in the cabin for any length of time because the smell would make you cough so bad. We thought we would be fair and open windows and try and air it out and go grab a bite to eat. When we returned the smell was just as strong and unbearable. We searched for any device or plug in....anything but we found nothing. I went to the office to discuss the matter but was unable to locate anyone for over an hour. I finally called the number and got a return phone call from the owner. I explained that having asthma was impossible to stay in any of the 3 cabins due to the overwhelming smell. I ask if she would like to meet me at the cabins to go over them and she refused. I disputed the charges she put on my credit card and she fought them, even though she knew the reasoning was legit. I would recommend that you stay down the road for a CHEAPER rate at the Hampton Inn which provides a pool, free breakfast and clean comfortable rooms!

This place has great little cabins for the family. There is a nice pool to relax in. Bring some wood for a fire pit or you can get some from them for real cheap. We took our dog and he loved it too. There is a lake entrance right across the street that has a secret place to let your dog run against the lake while you play in the water. Go north on SW HWY PP until you see the Tebo Creek Sports Bar, turn left on SE 30 road. Go a bit and it dead ends into the lake, very private and nice. Eat at Donna's Drive in...they have great burgers and pie!! We also drove up to Harry Truman State Park Marina and rented a boat for like $60 for a half day. All four of us got on and went fishing. So much fun!! The water is calm compared to Lake of the Ozarks.
