We stayed here in 2009 but every year we visit and walk through this campground on the trail to AMC Lonesome Lake Hut. Nothing has changed - all the facilities are identical since 2009. We will never stay here again. As everyone mentions, the location is great but it's cramped with small tent sites on top of each other with no privacy. For us, the final straw was that we called the afternoon of our stay to say we were driving with a very late arrival (11p) and we were told that our campsite would not be given away as we had paid for it so it was ours no matter what. We arrived to find a guy had pitched his tent on our site - he had been told at the office that he could set up on our site but would need to move if we showed up; he made no effort to pack up, said there was plenty of room to share and then proceeded to start smoking cigarettes! And we've NEVER stayed here again!

make sure to book a site on the edges, not in the middle field. This is a centally located site within Franconia notch state park. Showers are available and there are hiking trails from the campground.

Booked what was meant 3 night but could only stomach 2. Cramped tiny campsites right on top of each other, no privacy and barley cleaned from the last group. Firewood was covered in mold so I wouldn’t recommend cooking over the fire. Absolutely no enforcement of quiet hours, the family of about 8 were up drinking and yelling until well after 12 (keep in mind they were maybe 6 feet away from me) I finally got out of my tent to tell them to be quiet. Fantastic location if you plant to hike the ridge or to the lake but that is it.bring some Advil pm if you plan to get an early start on the trail

We stayed here for 5 days to be close to several mountains we wanted to hike. Other than the convenience of the location we would never stay here again! The campsites are incredibly small, completely un-level, and have no privacy. Despite being reassured that we would have no problems with our 25’ travel trailer we were barely able to navigate the camp roads to our site, barely fit into our site, and could not get our camper level due to the huge slope in the site. This campground is only suitable if you are tent camping or have a small pop-up camper. The campground sits off of Route 93 and all you can hear day and night is road noise. The tractor trailers traveling the highway and constantly air braking is beyond horrendous! We were woken up several times each night by the noise. The camp store offers ice, firewood, and basic camp essentials for sale. They do have coin operated showers and flush toilets but there are only a few of these facilities for 90+ campsites so plan to wait for one to be available when busy. Our advice - find another campground in the area as this one is not worth the stay!

Went with my boyfriend on 6/30/19 for a couple days of camping. Campsite was TINY. More like a driveway to someone's house, not a campsite feel at all. No distance off the road whatsoever. Each site is on top of the other so close you can hear and see every person around you. Plus the highway noise is awful. Advice: Make a separate section for families with kids. We literally packed up same day and left. Not worth it for us. We hiked but just not from the campground. Also, the two individuals at the front desk weren't that friendly. They seemed more annoyed to be there at the desk greeting people who are registering. Try Greenfield state park. Blows this place away. Never again.
