We arrived to Madisonville in a cloud of 1000's upon 1000's if bugs in the air. We later learned they are, Love Bugs, and they have 2 seasons a year. May and September. We were in town in September. Apparently, Love Bugs don't bite. They just fly around copulating everywhere. They have a life span of 2-3 days. You cannot breathe outside without breathing one or two up your nose or in your mouth. The outside of the motel is very clean and well kept. The lobby is very nice! But don't let it fool you. The rooms are no indication of what the lobby looks like. At least our room wasn't. The reader board outside stated, HBO and Large Pool. Upon checking in we were told the pool would be open later that day. It was not. We paid for a week but could only handle a 3 day/night stay. The pool never opened at all. We felt mislead by the reader board. It should have said the pool was closed. That way we would have looked elsewhere but thought it would be nice to enjoy a pool during our stay. Despite the motel claiming HBO, we could not find it anywhere. There was no guide in the room or on the tv. There is no phone in the room to call the office either. When we walked in to our room, there were 100's upon 100's if dead Love Bugs all over the floor and carpet. They were even on the walls. Housekeeping came and swept them up but that did not stop the bugs from coming in. The door did not seal, leaving huge gap for the bugs to come in as they pleased. And they came in in droves! We discovered that if we kept the AC cold that hindered them somewhat. It was awful!! There was a hole in the flooring between the bathroom and the closet area. One morning I got up to go to the bathroom and there was a long black bug in the floor by the toilet. About 1.5 inches long. I whacked it with the Kleenex box. It rolled onto its back. Thinking it was dead, I went to the bathroom with the intent of picking it up and flushing it when I was done. It was nowhere to be seen! Each of the 3 mornings when I woke up, I had bites of some sort on me. By the 3rd morning I had many more bites and that's when we decided to get the heck out of there. (See my pics, if they upload) The room was very substandard. The big chair had a broken leg. The floor lamp looked as if it was about to fall over if you touched or breathed on it. One morning housekeeping brought clean towels. I was about to shower; however, the face cloth I was given was filthy. (See pics). Needless to say, I never showered. We left instead. The staff was very friendly. Look for another place to stay. This motel is not worth staying at.…
When you see the signs in the office that read "No Refunds", that should be a sign to walk out. I'm on the road a lot and if I wasn't so tired I would not have stayed there and found someplace else. The rooms don't look like they have been updated since the 70s, The showers don't look very clean either... I waited until I got to the flying J truck stop on the north side of Houston before I took a shower... Needless to say I won't be staying there again. I'll post photos as soon as I get a chance to login through my laptop.
Venstre vår egen personlige puter i rommet og hotellet eier fortalte noen nyfrosset råk inn og tok puter! Rommet var 49,95 for natten. Puter tatt i 600 tråden telle grønne tilfeller verdt mer enn det!
We stayed at this Motel on the way to Houston in early June. This motel is managed in an old-fashion way. It doesn't have its web site and doesn't communicate with its customers with emails. You have to call or fax them. It had a large outdoor pool, ice machine. Free Wi-Fi, TV, microwave, refrigerator in room, but no hair dryer. There were only coffee, milk, cereal, and honey buns for free breakfast. Overall, it's an out-of-dated motel. For $50/night (including tax), I'd rather stay other motels in that area. By the way, the staff were friendly, though.
