The campground is nice enough - loop 3 is tent only, I think, so no generators, and there are quite a few private sites. Loops 1 & 2 are basically fields where you will get to know your neighbors really well and hear generators regularly. Loop 3 has pretty soggy sites with no drainage right beside marshy streams; if it rains, you will definitely be sleeping in a puddle (or lake). Our two sites were beside one of the water faucets (loud plus muddy pool) and the dumpster. Both sites had experienced a ton of damage due to cars driving on the grass instead of the gravel pad, so it was hard to find a non-rutted tent spot. It was 80 & sunny all over the state for Memorial Day weekend. We knew it would be colder on the coast but were very sad when we got to within about 1/4 mile of the coast and saw the big fog bank. It was literally sunny on the east side of the road and foggy on the campground side. 55 & fog all weekend - double hoodies/puffies, hats, boots. We still played on the beach and the kids had fun, but we bailed early Sunday morning to find heat and sun inland for the rest of the long weekend, and were soooo glad. The beach is quite lovely and big (sometimes the fog lifted enough to even see the water). It's about 1/2 mile walk from the campsites to the beach. I'm not a fan of all the cars driving on the beach, especially the guys racing along doing donuts. Maybe there were more than usual because it was too cold to do anything else? It wasn't really safe for the kids to go down to the water because of all the vehicle traffic - people racing along the shore in the fog without lights - so we stayed in the soft sand. Bathrooms were old and semi-clean. Staff seemed nice. Wood was cheaper outside the park ($10/wheelbarrow) but was literally so damp that we couldn't keep fires going. Will we go back? Probably not on purpose.

This is our second trip to this campground. Beach is amazing! Miles of soft sandy beach! Town of ocean shores has many neat shops to walk through. Camp sites are large and bathrooms are clean! So why not 5 stars? The weather. A great ocean beach where the sun seldom breaks through the clouds and the temperature seems to never go above 70. If only the sun shined.

Sites were tight, privacy was lacking. The roads around the park were in really bad shape. The sewer hook-ups were the old style or a hook-up with the 90 degree bend. I stayed in a full hook-up RV site. The site wasn't very level it had half gravel mud and half pavement. They allowed several vehicles at every site so it made it difficult to back into the back in sites. The people across from me had a car, truck, trailer and another truck on there pull thru site. Very little enforcement of park rules. The beach was like a freeway, lots of cars and trucks racing up and down the beach.

Stayed for New Years Weekend. Nice to have the trees as a wind break that time of year. Easy walk on a trail to the beach. Close location to town and the nearby Casino. If you have a bigger trailer or 5th Wheel, get one of the pull through spaces.

Volunteer camp hosts were very friendly and always made their presence know so that everyone was safe & following rules. A family close to us was still making noise just after the posted 10pm quiet time, but were quickly hushed by the hosts (which we appreciated very much). They also enforced the burn ban to some folks. I like the fact this facility has coin operated showers, however there is only 1 shower per restroom (male & female) and only 3 out of the 4 restroom buildings have that 1 shower per male/female room, so you'll need to time that with the other hundreds of guests. Showers weren't exactly cleaned (which I understand is supposed to be done by Ranger/paid staff) but bathrooms always had plenty of toilet paper. Don't camp too close to a bathroom buildings if you like darkness at night to sleep because there are flood lights glaring off the buildings. You can tell that this park is slightly suffering due to constant budget cuts. We only saw 1 Ranger staff member once on our 3 night stay, simply to make sure everyone had checked-in and the garbage bins were overflowing by mid-weekend. We stayed in a none-utility site and it seems strange to pay $98 for 3 nights at a campground that hasn't had a face-lift in years. However, thanks to the volunteer camp hosts, sites themselves were clean of all debris and ready for us to make our weekend home. There presence also made us feel safe that our trailer and items wouldn't be stolen while we were away at the beach for the day.
