We rented a cabin called Little Bear on the back side of the mountain where the fires were a couple of yrs ago. It was comfortable, spacious, nicely decorated, and had everything we needed for our stay. The view was amazing. We could sit out on the deck and enjoy the peaceful beauty every evening. It was close to both Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg with a grocery store only about 15 min away. Be prepared for a steep but easy to navigate driveway up to the cabin. The management of Mountain Laurel is very attentive and aim to please. The last time we rented from them was 1985 and I can say they were great then too. I highly recommend renting from them and I know we will again.
If your looking for a secluded place to stay but still close to the action check out mountain Laurel Chalets. We stayed 7 nights for our anniversary and it was very quiet and peaceful. Only down side was the winding 2 mile road to get there but what do you expect when your looking to get away from everything. Will be staying with them again
We love renting through Mountain Laurel. They are great and so many cabin styles to choose from ranging from a couple cozy place to places that accommodate large families. Check them out on their web page
For two nights earlier this month we rented the cabin titled Paradise Point 1 from Mountain Laurel Chalets. The cabin was well furnished and clean. Unfortunately upon entering the cabin there was an overwhelming musty smell throughout and a portable dehumidifier was running. We had to empty the dehumidifier or else an alarm sounded, We experienced this alarm in the middle of the night. We stayed away from the cabin as much as possible to avoid the musty smell.
I stayed at Mountain Laurel Chalet's Laurel Lodge. Laurel Lodge is a large house. I mean, I think it was a 12 Bed, 14 Bath mountain house, with a large deck and a hot tub. The deck has a spectacular view of Mt. Leconte, and on a clear night would the perfect place for stargazing. Laurel Lodge also had two grills so you could grill for any large group staying there. On the first floor there was a pool table and even a washer and dryer. Probably one of the coolest features was the movie room in the basement. The house was so clean when we arrived, the beds were made, and the bathrooms were stocked with soap. The kitchen was immaculate, with what had to have been enough plates and cutlery for at least 20 people. Honestly, the whole kitchen was the best. Everything was to scale and matched what would be needed for hosting a large gathering. A ice machine, a large *LARGE* freezer/refrigerator, 8 burner stove top, etc. You get the idea. I think Mountain Laurel Chalet also managed the two adjacent properties, and could be rented if you had a big family reunion. The Lodge had internet/wi-fi and cable, but frankly with all of the other things to do in Gatlinburg we didn't use it much. The staff at the Mountain Laurel Chalet Office were so kind to us when we had arrived. This was my first trip to Gatlinburg, and I am very unfamiliar with the roads, but the staff had a map in the office and gave good directions on how to the Chalet I was staying at. It was an easy drive down Ski Mountain Road into town where you could park and walk to restaurants, and an easier drive up the mountain to get to OberGatlinburg. Really the ideal location for a retreat in the mountains, a family reunion, or a winter vacation.…
