We had SUCH an amazing time, I could never have enough good things to say. Everyone was so friendly and extremely welcoming. They were running behind with getting rooms cleaned (which for us wasn’t an issue at all, we were excited to store our luggage with them and go visit Pike Place Market!)... and when they messaged us that our room was ready, we had been upgraded and when we got to our room they had chocolates and a little note saying to have an amazing babymoon, and they even had set out a book of mocktails! Talk about such personal and thoughtful touches! Not to mention the restaurant below (Ben Paris) was to die for. We had the best poutine of our lives and that says a lot because we are Canadian hahaha!

If you are looking to be in the heart of downtown, close to a lot of the tourist attractions, then The State Hotel is for you. The rooms may be a bit on the smaller side, but if you're like me, you're willing to take a smaller room if it is well decorated and clean, and in a great location. The staff and hotel were all pleasant. I recommend this hotel.

My wife and I just stayed in The State Hotel for five days/nights while visiting Seattle for our first wedding anniversary. We chose The State Hotel due to it's location and extremely close proximity to the Pike Place Market, as well as the limited reviews we found on Trip Advisor and Booking.com. We also understood going in that the hotel is relatively new and has only been open for around 2-3 months. We chose a standard king room since we planned to be exploring the city throughout each day and we wouldn't be spending much time in the room throughout the five days we were there. Before arriving, we also let the hotel know we'd be celebrating our first wedding anniversary while staying there. With the above in mind, we arrived as planned and checked into our room without any problems. The standard king room we were given was relatively small with only a few feet of space on each side of the bed to put suitcases, bags, and any other personal items. The standard rooms at least also don't have even a mini-refrigerator like most hotel rooms and there was also no bottled water provided in the room - luckily, there's a Target right across the street and we were able to buy bottled water there. In recognition of our first wedding anniversary, the hotel provided 4 small truffles and a bottle of champagne for us to find upon our arrival. Other than the relatively small room without even a mini-refrigerator, the accommodation was fine. However, on the 2nd night, we experienced problems with the air conditioning unit in the room and we notified the front desk about the issue the next morning - with a request to either fix it or move us to another room. We were planning to be out on a day trip all day, so the hotel would have plenty of time to either fix the issue or arrange for a room change. Upon our return to the hotel that night, they informed us the mechanical staff was out since it was the weekend and they'd have to move us to another room. For our trouble, we were offered the same standard class room with king bed or an upgrade to a suite with a view of the Pike Place Market, but with a queen bed. We elected to move to another standard room with king bed since we had no interest in downgrading the bed. The new room was almost identical and we had no further problems other than keeping it cool enough at night. The Ben Paris restaurant seemed quite popular during our stay and was busy and crowded most evenings when we returned from site seeing. We intended to try it at least once for breakfast or dinner during our stay, but we ultimately couldn't decide what we'd order since the menu is so limited and there are so many other restaurant options in downtown Seattle. Our stay was uneventful and we checked out on the sixth day to go home. The hotel uses some unique "Do Not Disturb" door hangers that read "I'm Sleeping It Off" and my wife and I both found them unique enough that we wanted to take one home as a keepsake from our first anniversary stay at The State Hotel. However, upon asking during checkout whether we could simply have one or could we buy one, we were told many people like them and that they're in very short supply - essentially "no," we couldn't have one or buy one. So in sum, after staying at the hotel for five days/five nights, our thoughts are simply these: The State Hotel has an excellent location close to Pike Place Market and the location alone could make it an ideal hotel to choose when visiting the downtown Seattle area. The hotel staff is also professional and nice - as you'd expect. However, while staying at the hotel for those five days/five nights and during our first wedding anniversary, there was only very minor recognition of our special occasion and we found nothing exceptional whatsoever about the standard king room we stayed in or the way we were treated during our stay - with no real meaningful compensation offered or provided after we were forced to switch rooms mid-stay due to the air conditioning problem. The hotel couldn't even find a way to allow us to take a "I'm Sleeping It Off" door hanger with us when we checked out. The State Hotel has an excellent location near the Pike Place Market in downtown Seattle and it's a more than reasonable place to stay, it's nice, but we left after our five nights feeling the hotel did only as much as it was required to do and nothing more - we got just what we paid for and nothing more - "it was just business."

We really enjoyed the staff and the hotel. We had a cruise the next day and needed a place to stay. This was perfect. The rooms are very new and fresh. The concierge actually walked us to a restaurant.. Crazy good service. Definitely recommend this one!

The venue, staff, food and drinks were all absolutely perfect for our corporate event. We will absolutely have another event at The State Hotel again and will recommend it as a hotel for out of town guests.
