'Been staying here for the past three years whenever in the city but keep skipping doing a review. All together, this is a fair place to stay in Calabar amidst the numerous "Hotels" dotting the city. The rooms (from executive double) are quite spacious and adequately furnished and kept clean. The new management have sure upped services but still need to keep eyes on the ball. Dishes served guests in-rooms are not promptly cleared from the corridors. Meals have equally improved but often all options listed in the menu are not always available. The Fitness center(Gym) is quite small alongside the "covered" swimming pool at the rear. A couple of youngsters hang out there and do smoke too! The laundry services are good but the room rates have just gone up. The parking lot would be a challenge when more vehicles are available (see photos). Sleep quality is fair enough if you discount the sound of vehicular traffic on the adjacent road at night time. A fair place to be.…
Under great new management, the hotel is a perfect place to stay while in Calabar. Rooms are spacious and very clean, the staff exceeded my expectations and the food was the best. The manager is a chef who brings his extensive training to the kitchen. We asked for Indian and southeast Asian food for a change from the local diet and it was EXCELLENT. He also made the best fish dish I had in Calabar and his take on local dishes was spot on.
There are 2 wings of this hotel. The old and the new wings and they can't be any more different! The older wing is just a dump. Spent my first night there. Moving to the newer wing, things improved remarkably in terms of decor, ambience and all the facilities. It could still do with a bit of maintenance on both wings though and the service has to be improved also. It's just an average place at best but kinda expensive. It certainly can't be called "budget" for the price. Location is in the middle of town and can be noisy but helps with local movement.
I actually planned to stay in channel view, but the rooms were fully booked. I decided to patronize pearl cos it was close. I regretted doing dat cos the room the gave to me was used by someone else and u the didn't clean it before giving it to me. There is no steady power supply. The meals were expensive. The hotel is highly priced compared to d services available. The heater wasn't working. The facilities are obsolete.
Everything here worked. Absolutely perfect, really. Made the mistake of leaving after a night and moving over to Channel View cos of a friend of mine. Will never happen again. Rooms are excellent, clean and, for lack of a better word, roomy. Bathroom facilities were excellent. Al round pleasurable experience. Great value for money.
